Ethan and Ehlana:
Thanks to weather forecasting that kept
changing, the surprise for many of us this morning was having a bit of snow on
the ground, and while it wasn’t a lot; there was enough to require a light
round of shoveling before breakfast – and after Tai Chi that needed to be
indoors because of the white, fluffy stuff.
Getting our gang of girls and tweens fed and ready for church kept us
busy the rest of the time before we had parental support for rides to the
church; and then the teen-led holiday service was awesome!
For an ‘away’ family holiday weekend, this
was one of our busiest, and that non-stop action continued after church as we
helped out with getting kids packed and ready to head home before we all headed
to the Inn for the first buffet of the day at noon. Miranda and Stephanie had a full house for
that sitting – and probably all of them today – and that was at least partly
due to the overnight snow even though it has been sunny for most of today and
the snow melted off of the roads fairly-quickly. Holiday traffic can be a mess even on good
days, though; so the only exceptions to early departures were for grandparents
that wanted to spend a bit of extra time with hometown grandkids. Our early main meal of the day was amazing;
we wrapped up early to make room for the next round of customers; and the
goodbyes outside of the Inn were fairly-quick and entertaining.
Ehlana and I brought Naomi, Aiden, Sophia,
and Aaron home with us so that we could do a band practice, and we had a lot of
fun with that too, but then our friends needed to move on to help out with
their own families and home chores; we worked with Mom to do the same here; and
Dad spent the rest of his day in the office.
We had a leftovers dinner that was more of a snack; kept at the work
including some family business work in the office and a Magi lesson with Mom;
and now we’ve just wrapped up bath or Jacuzzi time and plan on an early bedtime
to catch up on the sleep we didn’t get over the past couple of nights.
We haven’t covered the rest of the story
from yesterday, but let’s make that quick; and then we really need to move on
to some quality nap time. Sebastian’s
birthday dinner was a mix of good and bad fun; Zack and Eli were next-level
scary pretty much the entire time we were there; and I am very glad that Naomi,
Ehlana, and Sophia made exceptions for their favorite boys and let us stay with
them; since I really didn’t want to deal with that kind of fun for the rest of
the night. Uncle Nick and Aunt Deborah
were proof that I was right about that by this morning; and that was true to
some extent for the rest of the adults that spent the weekend with them – especially
the parents with toddlers that didn’t get enough sleep because of the all-night
video gaming and partying. Compared to
that, helping out with the work around our house and keeping the girls supplied
with drinks and snacks during the movies and mini-makeovers was a breeze; the
later-evening co-ed cuddling and movie time was awesome; and then the co-ed sofa
or ‘nest’ sleepovers kept us happy all night! ;^)
That’s quick-enough – though we should add
that Sebastian loved his gifts; the usual birthday fun around dinner and
dessert partially made up for the games and pranks; and we have been assured
that our aunt and uncle will be very happy if they don’t have to do another
holiday weekend birthday party for their son ever again! That might be wishful thinking, since his
birthday will be on the holiday weekend again in just four years, but maybe
they’re hoping that he’ll have a girlfriend by then to host the party for him –
or send him away for a special birthday-holiday weekend!
We might be interested in chaperoning a
trip like that if it was to somewhere good in four years, but that’s a happy
thought for another time – or in our dreams; so we’re done with this update and
moving on to nap time starting right now!
Until next time, live with love, fellow
Magi of the Light!
