Ethan and Ehlana:
We’re doing another early update, but since we’re covering the news from last night too; get ready for a full day of news! ;^)
The barbeque dinner was definitely a major event for our families and friends, and while we celebrated Violet and Dillon’s anniversary too; we were on the edges of that fun while hanging out with our cousins and friends instead. We helped out with some of the work before and after dinner too, but we got to play too; and got in on a little canoe ride and some of the back yard games. We were spectators for the volleyball action at the Emersons, but there weren’t any kid games; so we didn’t play too. The campfire was definitely the entertainment highlight of the night for us. Having Naomi and the Holiday Harmonies offer our musical contributions was great – including the song we did for Violet and Dillon, but we also loved sharing the musical spotlight with Cassie and Michael as they did two rounds of duets that included two songs for Violet, Dillon, and their kids and a second set of ballads for the parents and other couples to dance to and enjoy.
While the campfire went fairly-late, our adventures weren’t finished. We took a small gang of teens and tweens home with us; video games and music in the lounge was especially-good for the couples that got to have the extra cuddle time; and then we won’t write about any co-ed sleepovers that might have happened in bedrooms or the lounge on the third floor! Ehlana is laughing at that, but only because Aiden went home last night after his campfire visit with us; so there are no stories to be told about them!
Moving along to today, we had extra exercise buddies by the river this morning; breakfast was a blast of busy that included a fair bit of work for us along with taking turns getting ready for church. We got there with time to spare; and the teen-led service was really good. That might sound a bit weird for a somber holiday weekend, and everything from the music to Pastor John’s message was appropriate for Memorial Day, but there never seems to be a ‘right’ way to comment on these more-serious services; so we’ll go with ‘good’ and move on.
After getting home, we were able to escape the pre-lunch work by helping out with canoe rides for the younger kids – though we helped Cassie and Michael first because we wanted to round up extra bikes and kid trailers for the biking we wanted to do after lunch. That meal felt like an on-the-fly blast of food and fun; and then the biking on the trails around town and at the park kept us busy for a couple of hours – including stops to play at the park and by the river. We went for a swim in the river – or some of us did; since the water was still pretty cold; and now we’re getting ready for the late buffet at the Inn. We’re not all doing that, since Aiden and Hailey needed to meet up with their family for the third buffet sitting, but we’ll still have almost-all of our family with us; and we are going to have fun – even if we end up on kid control for the meal too.
That’s pretty much got us caught up on the news to now, but before we wrap this up; we’ll add that our plans for the evening will include a teen and kid campfire at the Carringtons and another sleepover here at home for at least a few of the teens and tweens that will definitely include Naomi and Aiden. Those stories can wait for tomorrow night, and we do need to get going again soon; so that’s all for today.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
