Happy 10th Birthday, Kendra Byrd!
We had a family gift for Kendra that we gave her at church this morning, and we saw her at the Inn while there for the late buffet, but we didn’t have any major involvement in her celebrations. Leah and Hailey were among the party guests – including at the Inn, but we haven’t heard any details yet.
Our day began with a chilly Tai Chi workout by the river; Dad went with a hot breakfast; and then we had a busy morning at church and Sunday school that included some help with getting ready for the teen-led holiday weekend service next Sunday. That isn’t as big a deal as for other holiday weekends, but the teens needed some extra props and more for the skits they have planned; and we were happy to help out with that work!
Church was followed by a family picnic lunch at our house, and while some of the parents got busy with some pre-cooking fun for next weekend; and we helped out by playing with our younger cousins and friends all afternoon. It warmed up into the low-seventies, but that wasn’t good-enough for any river play time, so we opted for biking the trails; hanging out around the park; or playing games in the back yard. As mentioned, Leah and Hailey were busy with Kendra and some other friends, but they’re welcome for our help in keeping Zack and Eli from ‘crashing’ Kendra’s party along with some of the other guys in their grade. They probably wouldn’t have gotten into too much trouble, but we know that Zack and Eli managed to annoy Kendra at Sunday school; so keeping that from getting worse was definitely for the best.
We were home in time to get cleaned up and ready to go out to the Inn. That meal was a highlight of our day, and while we didn’t sit with Cassie and Michael; we were at the table next to them; and got to spend some time with them even while they were busy with Michael’s family, Mom, and Dad. After leaving the Inn, we came home with Mom and Dad; did a Magi lesson and some work in the office; and now we’re winding down toward bedtime with the usual computing and twin chat fun. This has really been a happy day, so let’s just wrap up now and stay away from any of the world news that we have no control over anyway. The coming week is going to be awesome, and we’re looking forward to the holiday weekend, so we’ll get some sleep now; and hopefully be ready for all of our near-future adventures!
