Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 3, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 42nd Birthday, Owen Emerson!

Happy 8th Birthday, Gerald York!

Our top news of the day is actually having to say goodbye to Cassie and Michael again – and they headed for their townhomes after we had a birthday lunch for Owen at the Inn because they had a lot to get done after getting ‘home’ today.  Before we get into that – and the rest of the news for today; let’s cover our adventures from the end of our last update.

Ehlana and Naomi had a blast yesterday while at Susan’s party and sleepover.  The weather was nice-enough for some outdoor fun and games; Pizzeria pizza and Olde Bakery birthday cakes were the dinner highlights; and a chick flick movie marathon was the main evening entertainment – along with a lot of girl chat time and probably more that wasn’t passed along to us – their favorite guys – when sharing those stories with us today.  Aiden and I ended up biking trails for most of the afternoon; can report that the new trail to Quarry Lake is nearing completion; and it will definitely be done ahead of time by early-May instead of in time for the holiday weekend.  We’re all excited about that; and expect that we are going to spend extra time on those trails and at Quarry Lake this summer!

After the biking, I ended up packing an overnight bag; and then moved on to spend the rest of the day and night with Aiden and his family.  We were at his house in time to help out with making dinner; had that ready by the time his Mom got home after closing the bakery; and then our evening included that pasta-and-sides meal; a family movie that included Hailey and Leah and was animated and musical; and then Aiden and I wrapped up our day with some video gaming in his room before we crashed and napped comparatively-early – and definitely hours before Ehlana, Naomi, and their girlfriends did at Susan’s party!  While we were busy with our friends, Cassie and Michael spent the evening with their parents at our house; and we don’t need to know about our comment on anything that might have happened after they – or our parents – headed for bed last night! ;^)

Moving along, we each had fairly-entertaining starts to our day – whether at the post-party breakfast at Susan’s home or the quieter meal at the Draper’s.  Aiden and I loved meeting up with Ehlana and Naomi at church; and Sunday school in particular was more-fun thanks to that – and because we worked on props and backgrounds for the Easter sunrise service.  While we were happy all morning, that was in contrast to knowing that we were going to be saying goodbye to Cassie and Michael.  Being busy all morning helped, but also meant that we didn’t spend much time with them.  That didn’t really get better after church.  We went home; rushed around to help with getting Cassie and Michael ready to travel; and then we needed to get to the Inn for Owen’s birthday lunch.  We ended up being with the kids for that meal; Cassie and Michael were more busy with the parents and their best friends – though they had two cameo moments with us and the rest of the kids; and then it was suddenly time to see them off and on the road while the rest of us got on with our ‘normal’ lives after they left.

For Ehlana, Naomi, Aiden, and I, that meant going out to play for a couple of hours.  We biked around town and at the park; spent a bit of time with some friends that we met up with along the way; and then we headed for our homes a bit earlier than planned due to some rain moving into the area.  Mom had us help out with some chores after that – including making an easy-dinner; our evening included some family business work and a Magi lesson; and then we were sent upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time by a bit after nine o’clock.  We’re ready for bed now, and tired out; so that’s all we have for tonight.  We’re missing Cassie and Michael – and Mandy – tonight, but we did get to have fun with them over the past week whenever we got to have our turns with them; so we can’t really complain about anything.  That’s especially-true if we compare our lives to those of most tweens in the world; and we really should consider those perspectives more-often than we do.

We are definitely overdue for broader news updates, but we really don’t want to go there tonight; so we won’t go there.  This has been a really great weekend; we’ve had enough fun; and now it is definitely time to go and get some sleep soon – so we will!

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
