Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 16, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 27th Birthday, Dillon!

Before we get to that part of our story; let’s back up and cover the news from Thursday afternoon.

Following our sort little update on Thursday, we were put to work for a while; had dinner with Grandma, Grandpa, and the Carringtons; and then our evening included some play time with friends and cousins while parents mostly got ready for incoming guests.  We don’t have any weekend visitors assigned to our house, but Naomi and Aiden ended up doing a sleepover with us; and that included a movie after we eventually got home from visits at other family homes; and the sleepover was co-ed and in the lounge.

Tai Chi by the river was chilly but more-fun with our best friends along to share the fun; we had a sparse breakfast appropriate for Good Friday; and then we’ve already mentioned the service at the church that is probably number one for most-solemn of the year – just ahead on that list above Memorial Day.  Even waiting until now, it seems odd to report that we had a really good family-and-friends day from lunchtime through to the play night and sleepover that we hosted with a gang of cousins and friends.  Between the barbeque meals, the afternoon entertainment included canoe rides, biking, and park and back yard adventures.  The evening fun included video gaming, two movies, and a fair bit of co-ed cuddling for the couples of all ages.  We did not have co-ed sleepovers with Naomi and Aiden last night, but won’t comment on whether a teen couple or two might have ended up in the wrong – or right – bedrooms for the handful of hours that some of us got to sleep for by the time the last round of video gaming ended in the wee hours of the morning.

Staying up late didn’t keep us from a normal start time to our Saturday.  We were up as usual for Tai Chi by the river; had extra exercise buddies that included Brianna and Zack; and then it was a mad rush to get everyone fed and ready to head over to the park in time for the Easter Egg Hunt.  The now-annual event is different for us now that we’ve transitioned from participants to volunteers, but we still had a blast; the younger kids loved the games, treats, and prizes; and the weather was at least decent if not all that warm with hunt-time temperature only reaching the mid-forties.  The afternoon high was only into the mid-fifties, but that didn’t keep us from a repeat blast of outdoor fun that again included canoeing, biking, and park play visits.  Lunch and dinner meals were indoors – the first at the Carringtons; and the second at the Inn for the late buffet.  All of the play time and the food was awesome; and then Mom and Dad only had Ehlana and me come home with them from the Inn while all visiting Proctor, Johnson, and McEwan relatives are spending the night at other homes – with kids and parents together ahead of the impending arrival of the Easter Bunny!

We’re having an early night here because we need the extra rest and will need to be up early for the Sunrise service in the morning.  We did do a bit of work in the office, and then came upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time; and now we’re winding down toward nap time.  We really have had a lot of fun over the past few days, and have more to look forward to tomorrow; so let’s just end this report on those happy thoughts and call it a night.

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
