Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 1st Birthday, Colin Sinclair!
It is so quiet around here tonight after a week of what has felt like non-stop action. The change of pace has a lot to do with why our full-weekend update won’t be very detailed; since we’re winding down fast and need to get some sleep so we’ll be ready for our first day of school tomorrow. With that pre-warning; let’s get at it!
Since we led off with Colin’s birthday, we can report that Colin was generally not all that impressed with his special birthday breakfast with the family or anything else surrounding his birthday adventures – possibly because he was tired and cranky this morning; too-hot during the morning; and unimpressed by the buffet lunch at the Inn. He was happy with a couple of his gifts; made an impressive mess with his cake and ice cream; and we’ve heard that he crashed and napped for most of the trip home not long after his parents hit the road for home after leaving the Inn. Most of our weekend guests left by then too; so our only added comments for those departures involve our Proctor cousins and their goodbyes with Micah, Jeremy, and Jennifer. The first two were tough for the four teens involved; and we’re not suggesting that because Uncle Blaine kept a watchful eye on his girls while they didn’t get any privacy to say goodbye to their respective, now-favorite, hometown guys. Saying goodbye was different for Jayden and Jennifer, but our friend seemed to feel the need for at least a bit of drama to mark the occasion; so they provided some entertainment for the parents in the area; and we expect that Jennifer will be very popular with the girls at school tomorrow too. We probably shouldn’t add anything else to those stories yet, since the end of summer will not be the end of those relationships.
As we’ve talked about that – and other connections with our family and friends; the ‘what’ we’ve been doing all weekend isn’t really the news for us anyway. Spending time with everyone – even when so many of those moments are too-short – is what really means everything to us. We can’t possibly mention each of those cameo moments, but whether we were playing with our cousins; visiting with our aunts, uncles, and grandparents; or helping out with the youngest members of our clan; we really appreciate all of the love, joy, and happiness that goes along with the holiday weekend sports, games, food, and the rest of the fun.
We’ll miss our extended family as we all get busy with our own lives again until Thanksgiving or Christmas, but getting back to school again and everything else we have to look forward to this fall is going to be awesome too; so we’re excited and ready to get started on those next adventures. Getting a decent night of nap time now will help us with getting started on that in the morning, and we don’t really need to add more to this report; so, until next time...
