Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - September 5, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

We had a blast last night – especially once all of our weekend guests were here.  The campfire was one of the highlights for us; and then watching the new Mulan movie was pretty good too – though the vote was split for our group of movie-watchers because of the lack of musical ‘moments’ that we’ve come to expect from these live-action re-makes.  Our votes are still in favor of the movie while still wishing that there could be a version that mixed the action and music the way they did with the Aladdin re-make.

Moving on, we watched the movie in the living room so that we could all do that together; and then headed for our tents – or at least the kids and teens did that while the parents headed for their beds.  We still stayed up too-late; and were a bit tired when we got up for Tai Chi by the river.  That was fun with the extra exercise buddies and spectators; breakfast was an adventure; and then we kept busy for a couple of hours while getting ready for a trip to Quarry Lake.  That choice was made by our weekend guests, and we’ve had awesome weather; so it has been a perfect day for playing at our favorite campground.

We’ve just gotten back home; so this update is being multi-tasked with getting cleaned up before moving on to the rest of our entertainment plans for the day.  While we have gotten here earlier than we normally would because it got crowded again at the campground; we still managed to do all of our favorite things while there – including the rock wall, zip line, and water bikes or paddleboats fun.  Our plans for the rest of the day include another campfire and camping night, but we won’t stay up as late as we did last night; since we’re tiring out the parents; and they’re too-busy for afternoon naps! ;^)

The rest of the news for today can wait for our next report, and we really want to get back to our play time; so that’s all for today.  We are missing the usual holiday weekend baseball and park activities, but trading that off for the trip to Quarry Lake and everything else is hardly a sacrifice; so this really has been a pretty good wrap-up to our extended summer.

Let’s hope that will be true for the rest of the weekend!
