Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy Birthday, Miranda!
We didn’t have much involvement in Miranda’s
special day, but we did see her once and deliver a gift; and she’s going to
have a night out with friends that will include Mom and Dad while we’ll be at
Aiden’s again tonight. This time, we’ll
be camping by the river, but this is an early update; and that part of our
story for today will have to wait for tomorrow night.
For our own news, Tai Chi by the river was
a bit surreal thanks to a foggy morning.
We do get fog here now and then, but it was especially-thick this
morning; and that doesn’t happen all that often. That’s why we had fun with a foggy and early
bike ride this morning too; we followed that up with some chores ahead of the
long weekend that kept us busy until lunchtime; and then we’ve been free to
play for the afternoon.
This update is coming to you while we’re
getting ready to head over to Aiden’s again – this time for a camping night;
and we’ll have babysitters for part of the time; since Aiden’s parents will be
at Miranda’s dinner and party too – if not for as long as most guests thanks to
the early-morning start at the bakery.
That’s all we have for now from home, but before we wrap this up; let’s
catch up on a bit of news from college and elsewhere.
In-person college classes continue for
Cassie, Michael, and their friends, but they do have a problem with coronavirus
cases; and Cassie isn’t sure that they’ll be able to control it on-campus or
around the city. The school likely also
has problems with their statistics; since their time to recovery is, to be
blunt, unbelievably-fast. If those
students – and anyone else being counted – are cleared too-soon; they could
continue spreading the virus to others.
We’re all hoping for the best, but these ‘experiments’ with re-opening
schools seem to be proving to be a problem in places all over the country and
world; and we hope that everyone will keep health and safety first ahead of the
economics that are important too – especially to college communities and
cities.
Finally – for today, we are seeing early
signs of another trend change for confirmed cases – at least worldwide. We’ll pass twenty-six million cases today;
and there are new hotspots popping up in a lot of different countries. It’s too-soon to say whether we’re getting an
early start to a fall surge, but if all countries will eventually need to catch
up to the countries with the highest number of confirmed cases per million; we
still have a long way to go – or will need effective, widely-available vaccines
before we’ll have any hope of getting this under control.
That’s a not-very-cheery thought to end
this update on, but we manage to juggle the serious going on around us with the
fun; so we won’t let that get in the way of enjoying the rest of our day and
the camping adventure with our friends.
We need to get going so that we can get started on that with setting up
our ‘campground’ now; so we’re out of here.
