Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - August 7, 2021

Ethan and Ehlana:

Congratulations, Caleb and Erica Palmer – you’re married!

The big wedding is the top news of the day, but before we go there; let’s begin this update with the rest of the story from yesterday.

Aunt Deborah’s birthday dinner was fun; so was the co-ed ball game – except for the part where Mom, Dad, and the Ghosts lost to the Shriek; and then we had a blast and stayed up too-late with the campfire and camping adventures.  The parents had fun at Sheldon’s; we had some bonus fun with Cassie and Michael after they got home so they’d be here for the wedding; and we eventually had a non-co-ed nap until it was time to get up and going this morning.

Tai Chi by the river was awesome thanks to the extra exercise buddies; breakfast was wild with all of the campers; and then we spent the morning at the park for the baseball games.  To keep that part of the story short, Brianna and the Royals won over the Tiaras; Zack, Eli, and the Pandas lost again – this time to the Polar Bears; and Aiden and I helped our Bards’ team to the win over the Barons.  The two winning teams in our family will make it into the championship games now regardless of the results from the last games still to be played; and Zack and Eli are at least pretending not to care that the Pandas won’t be playing on the holiday weekend.

Moving along, we had time to go along for the ice cream treats; came home for lunch and to get ready for the wedding; and then we all went to the church for the ceremony – though we weren’t all invited to the dinner-reception at the Inn.  The ceremony was beautiful and moderately-entertaining even for the guys.  Cassie and Michael helped out with the music – a duet that they shared with everyone while Caleb and Erica were dealing with the official documents.  Jessica and Ryan helped out with the music too; so there was more of that than normal for weddings – at least at our church.

Once we had the happy couple married, Ehlana and I were set free for the afternoon, so while Cassie and Michael were busy for the rest of the day with his family, we got changed; met up with Naomi and Aiden again; and spent a few hours biking, swimming, and playing with our friends until nearly-dinnertime.  Quite a few of our parents needed to be at the wedding reception, so we had pizzeria pizzas and home-made sides for our dinner; our house and yard were used as home base for the kids that weren’t at the Inn for the evening too; and we had a combination of adult and teen support for getting us fed and keeping an eye on us.  We’re not doing another camping night; so the youngest cousins had babysitters or grandparents with them when they headed for their own homes near-dusk.  Naomi and Aiden are with us for the night, but we’re going with a co-ed sofa sleepover; and they’re mostly here so that we can spend a bit of time with Cassie and Michael in the morning; since they’ll need to head back to their townhouse again tomorrow afternoon.  This update is coming to you during our first movie intermission; and we expect to fall asleep before the second one ends – or Mom, Dad, Cassie, and Michael get home from the Inn.  We do not have an in-house babysitter, but on-call help is available that we won’t need because there won’t be any emergencies.

That’s also enough for tonight.  We’ve had an awesome day, and while we’re not in on the biggest party in town tonight; we’re happy for the quiet time with our best friends.  It’s time to get back to the cuddling and movies now; so, until next time...
