Ethan and Ehlana:
We’re on our own tonight after a busy day with our family and friends; and just a bit sad because we really didn’t get to spend much time with Cassie and Michael this weekend. They got home from the wedding reception after we fell asleep, and while they still got up for Tai Chi by the river; they were then with Michael’s family for breakfast and through until we all went to church.
Happy 6th Anniversary, Jake and Stephanie!
Their special day was the bonus reason for that Stone family breakfast, but Cassie and Michael were just as happy to get the chance to spend time with Sierra. They were busy with babies at church and then for the family barbeque lunch at our house; and that left us with less time to spend with them while they were busy with Sierra, Ryan, and their parents. It isn’t fun to admit to a bit of jealousy or selfishly wanting to spend more time with our big sister and brother-in-law, but that has still be true for us today; and we really miss them while understanding why they’re so busy right now – and gone so much of the time.
Moving along, we had a happy morning at church and Sunday school; the barbeque lunch was great; and then we only had a short visit with Cassie and Michael before they did a quick round of visits and then headed out and back to their townhouse with Tim so that they could be back in time for Cassie to get all of her weekend work done. Michael and Tim are continuing their football training from now through to the start of the season; so they didn’t want to be doing a late trip either. Rowen is staying for a week to help out with the back-to-school work at the computer store and data center; and then she’ll catch up with Tim for the rest of the summer.
This is likely as good a time as any to add in a college football update; so let’s include that tonight too. While Michael and Tim will be with the team this season; Cassie is confirmed to be one of the T.A.’s that will travel with the team, cheer squad, and band. While she will work with all of the students too; she is going to take those travel opportunities to work on her doctoral studies and research for her doctoral thesis; so she will be very busy during the weeks that the team in on the road. Rowen will not be traveling with the team too, but will probably attend as many of the road games as possible with weekend trips. We’ll have more details on that as they get started on those adventures – and we’ll be okay with it if Mom and Dad take us along to a game or two too! ;^)
That’s something to look forward to this fall, but we’re just starting the second-half of our summer break; so let’s get back to the news of the day.
After Cassie and Michael were gone, Mom had us help with a few chores around the house; we went out to bike, play, and swim with our friends and cousins for the rest of the afternoon; and then we were part of a gang that opted for the late buffet dinner at the Inn – including more than half of our hometown family and quite a few of our friends. We were at a kid table for that meal; the food was awesome; and then we came home with Mom and Dad and have had a quiet night since then. We don’t really need to write about what has been a fairly-normal Sunday night, and don’t have anything to add for this report; so, until next time...
