Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 15, 2021

Ehlana and Ethan:

Our computers haven’t frozen because of the deep freeze that hit new lows today, but we’re tired and ready to nap; so this double-update will need to be short.

Starting with Saturday night, we opted for dinner-for-four at Naomi’s house because we were already sick of Zack and Eli by the time they headed over to Zack’s house for the night.  Pizzeria pizzas were dropped off for us as part of the order for the Carrington babysitters and their gang of kids; we enjoyed that meal; and then spent the night playing music, watching movies, and cuddling with our favorite Valentines.  Naomi’s parents were out late – past when we fell asleep, so they took pictures of our latest co-ed sofa sleepover; and then had fun with teasing us on Sunday morning.  We cooked breakfast for six; drove to church because it was so cold out; and had a short church service without Sunday school – a Valentine’s ‘gift’ from Pastor John.

The rest of our Sunday was spent indoors.  Naomi and Aiden came home with us for lunch with Mom and Dad; we played or watched movies indoors all afternoon; and then we met up with their families at the Inn for a special Valentine’s dinner.  We really haven’t been going to the Inn for many meals over the past year, but we’re hoping that will change soon; and we can get back to normal – maybe by spring or early summer at the latest.

Dad’s in the city this week, so we came home without Naomi and Aiden; did some weekend wrap-up work; and then headed upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time.  We didn’t get to bed all that early last night; so we were tired when we woke up to see Dad off on his trip to Crystal Springs.  He headed out a bit earlier than normal because of the cold and weather; so we had a bit of extra time for cuddling with Mom and Silkie before getting our day started again.  Thanks to the super-cold; we got rides to and from school today; stayed home this afternoon; and did our usual ‘real’ studies before dinner instead of playing with our friends or going to the lab.  That left the evening open for watching a show with Mom; doing some video chats with Dad, Cassie, and Michael; and now we really are going to crash and nap for the night earlier than usual because we can!

That also gives us an excuse not to bother commenting on the top weekend news stories – including the impeachment mess that proved to be the kabuki theatre we expected it to be right through to the acquittal.

Maybe our leaders can move on now and try to actually do something useful – though that’s a lot to hope for; and not very likely to actually happen.  Yes, we’re too-young to be so cynical about politics, but the world is getting smaller thanks to the internet; so maybe we’re just learning more a lot faster than was possible for previous generations.

That’s likely a scary thought for parents and grandparents, so we’ll move on too now; and go get started on our long, too-cold winter’s naps.

This is Ehlana and Ethan Proctor; live from the hidden home of the Magi of the Light – and May the Magi Force be with you!
