Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - August 18, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 29th Birthday, Alicia Warren!

Happy 5th Birthday, Andy Carter!

Our day started early while seeing Dad and Anna Marie off on their trip to Crystal Springs.  After that little blast of fun, we napped for a while; moved on to Tai Chi by the river and breakfast with Mom; and then I headed to the park for my football workout with the guys.  Miles has more of the older guys joining in this week – or at least for today; so he’s happy – even though that also affects his status a bit as workouts leader when he’s no longer one of the top few players.  Ehlana opted for some time with Mom while I was busy; we met up at the lab once I was done at the park; and we play-worked at the lab or archives for the rest of the morning.  We’ve had another hot, sunny day; so we opted for biking the trails and lots of swim breaks with friends and cousins after lunch, but didn’t make any plans for sleepovers or camping because Mom wanted to work with us tonight.  We had a quiet dinner-for-three; followed the clean-up with a Magi lesson; and then we all got busy in the office on family business and charity work.

Mom let us work until a bit after ten o’clock; bath or Jacuzzi time followed; and now Ehlana and I are winding down toward dreamland.  None of that adds up to birthday party level fun, but we have had a good day and got a lot done; so we’re content and happy – even without a co-ed sleepover with our favorite cuddle buddies!  Cassie and Michael can’t say the same for their Monday – May and Lee took the day off and the four of them had a play day with sightseeing and seaside fun.  There will be work for Cassie and Michael for their Tuesday and Wednesday, but they’ll fit in more time with their friends too before starting their trip back home.  We’re looking forward to them getting back here, but they won’t get here until Sunday; since they’ll be stopping in Indianapolis for a college friends’ wedding on Saturday.  Rowen and Tim will be there for that wedding too, but we’ll have more on that story later in the week.

On the world news front, the top story has been the meetings between President Trump and the Ukraine and European leaders that have all come to Washington to talk peace.  That sounds funny when most of the rhetoric has been far from peaceful; but then that hasn’t really changed at all since before the start of that conflict.  The meetings at the White House seem to be nothing more than political theatre with no announcements of any specific agreements to end the Ukraine war.  General declarations about agreeing on ‘things’ means nothing when that could mean anything from agreeing to keep the war going or escalate it to agreeing that Ukraine needs to surrender before their entire country is destroyed and their army is defeated.  That adds up to nothing changing on the ground in Ukraine, so the fighters and civilians continue to be killed and the destruction hasn’t stopped.

We’ll stop with that, since there isn’t good news for any of the other problems in the world; so we’d rather move on to dreamland now instead of ranting on about the idiocies in the world.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
