Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 20, 2014

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’re free!  Okay, we’re only free from school and for two weeks, but Christmas is in the air; and we are ready to get those holidays started.  After a morning that included a Christmas movie and some classroom clean-up ahead of the break, we had a Pizzeria pizza lunch and Christmas party; and then we were let out with the usual early release that was even a bit earlier than usual because even the teachers and bus drivers wanted to get started on our break.

That’s also pretty much all of the news we have for today-so-far; since Ethan and I are getting ready to host our friends – including a sleepover for some of them.  Mom and Dad are going to have some company too with some ongoing cooking and baking, but our younger cousins have other plans with their own friends for the night after that; so we won’t have many of them here for very long after dinner.  Dad is on-track to be home early today thanks to everyone they’re working with in a hurry to get to the weekend too; so he and Anna Marie will be back by dinnertime too.  The rest of our news can wait, since we still need to live most of those adventures; so that’s all for today.  While we get started on our holiday break, enjoy our Christmas music video picks and you can play the guessing game too; since Ethan and I each chose one of these songs.  Have fun with that; and we’re out of here!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 19, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 9th Birthday, Katie Taylor!

Happy 4th Birthday, Jair Cassidy!

Happy 24th Birthday, Laura Cross!

We’ve had an awesome, happy day, but we’re also tired, so instead of doing a full report tonight; let’s keep this one short and we’ll add details with our next report.

The highlights from our day were the Christmas concert with our favorite parts were the songs we helped with for the younger kids; the song we did with Naomi and the Holiday Harmonies; and the songs we did with the band.  After school, we helped Mom with some holiday cooking and baking; we had dinner along the way; and then we went to the Inn for the Christmas game night.  Mom helped Miranda with their annual Christmas gift of the last game night senior title of the year; we all had fun; and then Ethan and I went home with Mom and helped with more pre-cooking – mostly dealing with food that had been left to cook in the oven and some baking we could continue while the oven was still hot.

Since I apparently can’t just save most of the news for tomorrow anyway despite being tired; our morning included music practices and helping to set up the gym for the concert; and we’ve kept our bedtime computing to a minimum because we just didn’t want to dwell on the usual daily dose of bad news.  That is a part of our updates that we’re happy to skip writing about; so let’s just get to the Christmas music video picks of the day.  There isn’t an addition to the guessing game this time – Ethan and I made these choices together – an older favorite and a new version of an old classic that we both love.  Enjoy the music while we nap our way back to full power ahead of our last school day of the year!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 18, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Our night with Aiden and his family was great; we had fun with music, games, and a Christmas movie; and stayed up a bit too late for a school night.  Today has mostly been about Christmas and music too, but we wrote a test this morning before hauling band gear over to the church for the seniors’ Christmas luncheon in the fellowship hall.  In addition to the school band music; Naomi and the Holiday Harmonies performed two songs as part of the dance music that followed the meal; and we ended up being late by the time we helped with getting everything back to the school or home.  That’s why we helped with making dinner but not the clean-up; since we needed to be back at the church for the dress rehearsal to get ready for the Sunday evening Christmas concert or cantata.  It has been called both this year, but it isn’t technically a cantata; since the show has been pieced together by Stacey and the older teens for the skits and music selections.  We didn’t get home until a bit after ten o’clock, so Mom didn’t want us doing anything else tonight when we also have the school concert tomorrow afternoon and the Christmas game night at the Inn; so that’s pretty much our news of the day.  We’re also going to wrap this up with our Christmas music video picks and skip the world news of the day, so enjoy the music; and the guessing game is available for you too while Ethan and I go and get some sleep.

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 17, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Mom’s in the city, and we’ll be with Naomi at Aiden’s house for the night; so this is a micro-update while we pack and get Silkie ready for the night she’s going to spend with Brianna and Lady.  We’ve had an awesome day at school and with the last band practice of the year; so we had a lot of music to go along with two more tests.  By the way, we don’t write about tests for our classes; and we’re only mentioning it in passing this week because they are a part of our lives – even though we never need to stress about them the way that some of our classmates do when they get stacked up the way they do at the end of each learning module.

We do need to get going now; so that’s all for tonight.  Our Christmas music video picks are also good for the guessing game for our respective picks; so have fun with that and the songs while we move on to the fun we have planned with our best friends and Aiden’s family!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 16, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 3rd Birthday, Mariah Palmer!

We took time to wish Mariah a happy day and delivered a gift; and then left it up to her family and friends to take care of the rest of the birthday adventures.

Our day was boring by comparison.  We were up early for Dad’s trip to the city; followed that up with a quiet morning with Mom; and then we headed for school for the day.  Our academic adventures included two tests as we wrap up yet another round of lesson modules; and there were music practices fit in where we could that kept the Christmassy feeling in the air for us.  We headed for the lab after school; and worked there into the evening.  Mom brought a picnic dinner for us and stayed to play too for a while; and then she brought us home at a bit after ten o’clock once I finished my longest experiment of the day.  After the early start to our day, we were getting tired; so Mom wouldn’t let us do any charity work or a Magi lesson.  Ethan and I split up to get ready for bed first; and we’ve made quick work of our bedtime computing and twin chat fun.  Trading lab or archives stories took up part of the time, but we’ve also talked about our plans for the rest of the week and expectations for what we’ll be doing over our Christmas break.  Let’s take another break from world news commentary.  Nothing has changed with any of the worst stories; and we’ll continue to choose to be happy.  On that note; we’ve chosen our Christmas music videos of the day; so enjoy the songs and the guessing game for our choices; and we’ll go and get some sleep and get back to full-power again by morning.
