Ehlana and Ethan:
We always love our holiday weekend adventures, but they are even-better when the weather co-operates as it has this weekend with hot and sunny days – once we got the rain out of the way on Friday. It has also been comfortable in the evenings; so the teen dance last night was amazing; and Ethan and I had a blast with our dates and with our family and friends too. Ethan will admit that his co-ed sleepover with Naomi at her house was the highlight of his day ahead of the championship games wins and the dance. Aiden and I weren’t as-happy this morning after our night at his house, but then we got to have a better start to our day thanks to Tai Chi by the river with Cassie and Michael. We also had the better breakfast with Aiden’s family; and then we all had an awesome rest of the morning thanks to the teen-led service at the park that included Naomi and Aaron. They had minor roles in skits and with some of the music, but they’ll do more this school year; and Naomi will likely try to get Ethan, Aiden, Sophia, and me involved in the teen praise team a year early.
Food booths lunches were up next on our schedule as we moved from the service to the co-ed championship ball game at noon, and while we offered our best cheer support; Palmer’s Panthers bested our Lab Lynx by two runs in an awesome and entertaining battle between many of our favorite next-gen young parents and their friends. The cheer squad competition was pretty good too, though nobody was surprised when Cassie and Miranda led their squad to that victory despite the baseball loss. The Palmer clan women and the girls cheering with them weren’t as motivated; and Miranda always has an advantage when her birthday also falls on the holiday weekend. In this case, this win was a day-early birthday gift!
This update is coming at you while Ethan and I are taking a break here at home and getting ready for the dinner and family dance at the park that we’ll be heading back to soon. After the ball game, we went for a swim and then moved on to play some games and enjoy some frozen treats, but we want to look nicer for our second date night and dance in a row with Naomi and Aiden. We’ve also invited them – and Sophia and Aaron – to come home with us after the dance; so we’ve gotten ready for that too – including re-stocking the drinks and snacks. With only two sleeps left to go before we head back to school, we’re going to enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend fun while we can, and since we need to get back to doing that at the park very soon; that’s all for this report. Stay tuned for our holiday weekend wrap-up news in our next update and we’ll get back to living those stories out in the ‘real’ world.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
