Ehlana and Ethan:
The second day of our holiday weekend has been awesome so far, but since we’re a bit behind on our reports; let’s try to cover some of the stories before we need to get back to the fun with our family and friends!
Wednesday evening was great with all of the incoming weekend guests arriving; the barbeque dinner; and the evening play time and camping adventure. Without even trying to cover all of our fun from the Fourth of July, some of our highlights included being in the parade with the school band; the noon co-ed ball game that ‘our’ team won by four runs; all of the afternoon play time that included game booths, water play, biking on the trails, and more; the food booth dinner with our family and friends; the dance with our dates; the fireworks show after dark; and finally, the co-ed camping that we got away with thanks to some tent juggling with younger cousins and their friends. Thanks to the camping, the parents opted for the buffet breakfast at the Inn today – after Tai Chi by the river for a small gang of exercise buddies that even included Cassie and Michael; we followed up that meal with some holiday shopping around town and at the Galleria; and then our afternoon adventure highlight was a trail ride at the ranch or corral adventure for the youngest kids. The weather for that today was nearly-perfect with sun and a slightly-cooler high that kept the ride time from getting uncomfortably-hot.
Before we move on, I’m going to mention that we do love riding horses now and then, but Ethan and I can admit that we don’t quite have the same passion for it as we get older that Cassie had for it at our age – or now. We talked about booking another camping ride this summer, but probably won’t do that; since we already have a lot on the go and aren’t doing as much work as we want to be doing or should be doing while off from school for the summer. We’ll keep you posted if that non-plan changes; and really only want to mention that because we are different from Cassie in some minor ways; and we’re noticing that more as we’re hitting our teen years and have more to compare. Ethan can also stop grinning anytime now; since he is definitely thinking about how our dating history is very different from Cassie’s – even though we can still thank her for precedents that have been working out great for us so far too!
Moving along, we’re transitioning from the trail ride toward another barbeque dinner and have finished getting cleaned up and changed; so it is time to wrap this up and move on. We’ll be camping again tonight and haven’t decided on whether there will be another campfire or maybe an outdoor movies night after dark, but we’ll keep you posted on that with our next report. There are ball games on deck for Saturday morning, but Ethan and I don’t have holiday weekend games this year; so we’ll likely spend more time helping with kid control at the park. We don’t have major family plans other than a semi-lazy play day; and that’s mostly because the adults decided not to try a visit to Quarry Lake when the place will be packed all weekend and a bit on the crowded side even with the latest expansions. We’ll still have a lot of outdoor fun around here, though, so we’re good with whatever we end up doing to keep busy and entertained. That is all we have for now, though, and we’re on-deck to help with the pre-barbeque work; so we’re out of here and back to living our adventures out here in the ‘real’ world!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
