Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - July 12, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Our journal updates certainly aren’t keeping up with all of our local or world news right now, but we are loving the daily and ongoing summer adventures; and sometimes even junior Magi Master teens need a break from focusing much time on the bad things that happen every day and enjoy the awesomeness of life that we get to enjoy here with our family and friends.  We’ll be getting back to doing that again soon with a somewhat more-moderate family-and-friends dinner that we’ll again be helping with, but before we do that; let’s get to our stories of the past day or so!

Uncle Mark and Aunt Grace had a lot of fun at their anniversary dinner that included roasting them while Ethan and I were busy on kid control through dinner and beyond around the work we did with the dinner prep and then the clean-up.  The adults partied on after the kids and teens moved over to our yard for the camping, and while a visit to Sheldon’s had been an option; they stayed at the Carringtons’ home and enjoyed the quieter social time together before splitting up for kid-free nights that we will not comment on here.

While they were busy having that kind of fun, we ended up keeping the younger kids entertained with an evening swim; an outdoor movie; and a not-so-early bedtime after hanging out by the river.  Sure, some of the younger kids managed to be sleeping not long after the movie, but Zack, Eli, and some of the other boys stayed up later and split their time between prank attempts and portable video gaming.  The teens in charge were up until everyone else was sleeping; and then we got to have a bit of co-ed nap time before needing to be up again this morning for another busy day.

Tai Chi by the river and breakfast for our little gang of campers was an adventure that wasn’t always fun, but then we all moved on to other things – which for Ethan and I was a play-work morning at the lab while Aiden went to help out at the bakery and Naomi was busy with her father and brother.  We’re not spending as much time at the lab as we expected so far this summer, but we’ll try to do better next week while Dad is in the city.  We really loved the hours of fun with our beakers or books before meeting up with Mom for an easy lunch; and then we had the afternoon off to play with our friends.  The high is hitting triple digits today, so we’ve spent some quality time in the river; and didn’t go far from it with our biking and play time at the park or in our back yard.  While we just had the big dinner party yesterday, Mom and Dad are still hosting a smaller family-and-friends barbeque tonight; and we’ll likely add in a campfire to go along with another camping night that will have fewer younger cousins and their friends and possibly a few extra teen friends.  We’ll let you know how all of that goes for us, but need to go and help Mom in the kitchen and yard soon; so that’s it for this report.  We don’t have much booked for this weekend other than baseball games, but we are expecting to have lots of fun that won’t be pushed with too-much busy; so we are happy and looking forward to those adventures.  While we get back to ‘real’ life; stay tuned for those stories or flip digital pages and read on to find out what happens to us next somewhere in your near or distant past! ;^)

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
