Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 11th Birthday, Rebekkah Burroughs!
Happy 4th Anniversary, Reid and Lily Spencer!
We had a lot of fun last night with Cassie, Michael, and our four best friends; and those adventures included a pasta-and-sides dinner, ‘live’ music, video gaming, and movies. Staying up too-late on a school night wasn’t officially part of the plan, but we enjoyed the late night cuddling and chat time. Cassie led us in a group Magi lesson too, but that was also more about having fun than the learning that was all about working together in a group and sharing both power and multi-tasking. The co-ed sofa sleepover part of our night was pretty good too; and we were also able to share some fatigue healing this morning ahead of our Tai Chi workout.
That workout and a hot breakfast wrapped up our play time with Cassie and Michael; we headed for school and a quiet day of academic fun; and then another semi-damp weather day led to our choice to work-play at the lab or archives after being set free from our last class. Ethan and I did a snack and visit with Mom before moving on to the lab, but our parents apparently didn’t have any fun while she was in the city with him except for a dinner with the Malloys and a bit of supply shopping for Mom. Yeah, we didn’t believe that either, but let’s pretend that we did! ;^)
Ethan and I had fun at the lab with our books or beakers; Mom had a snack-dinner ready for us when we got home; and we didn’t have much time to eat and clean up before we needed to get to the Inn for game night. Yes, Mom and Miranda won the senior title as usual on the weeks they team up while Dad is in Crystal Springs; so they were happy by the time we headed home. Silkie’s bedtime walk was multi-tasked with walking Naomi and Aiden to their homes; Mom decided that we didn’t need to do any work or a Magi lesson tonight; and bath or Jacuzzi time was next on our to-do lists once we were home again with Silkie. That’s pretty much all of our hometown news, but before we wrap this up; let’s add in a world news report.
Solar flares and storms have gotten a fair bit of attention over the past week, and we would never take those risks lightly, so our only comment on those stories is to point out that our society is at higher risks from the sun thanks to our technology; and the minor disruptions we’ve had in tech systems from those solar storms are noteworthy and we collectively should learn from what has happened and work to be ready for when we do eventually face more-serious solar weather that could cause serious damage to our tech systems. We didn’t mention it earlier, but we got to see some pretty cool northern lights around here too, but that’s different for Magi compared to normal people because our talents allow us to sense more about that sort of thing and we ‘see’ our skies and atmosphere with more than our eyesight.
Moving along, the war problems continue and aren’t getting any better in Ukraine or Israel; and we really wish that someone in power would step up and put an end to all of the death and destruction that is so pointless and only benefits a few greedy, unethical people. An assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia is a new story this week, and earned our attention because of the reaction to it from western leaders and media that has entirely been because the Prime Minister is supposedly on the wrong side of the Ukraine war due to his opposition to funding Ukraine and for calling for peace instead. ‘Our’ side is definitely in the wrong if we believe that an acceptable answer to supporting peace over war is grounds for killing the messengers!
I’d better stop now before I get into a full-blown rant, but also need to mention that western countries are on the fast-track to more trouble in the world with growing threats being made against China and any other country that dares to have trade relationships with Russia, Iran, or other countries that we deem to be enemies. Economic sanctions are a form of warfare, and choosing that path against any country is usually wrong; and against a country like China is incredibly-stupid, short-sighted, and dangerous.
Stop ranting now, Ehlana!
I’m down to writing orders to myself, so it is obviously time to get some sleep – starting right now!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
