Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - December 24, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Our Christmas Eve day hasn’t been rained out from a fun perspective, but most of our adventures have needed to be indoors; and we got wet anytime we have gone outside – and that will be true this evening when we go to church for the evening service.  Ehlana and I need to do that early because we’ll be helping with the music tonight, but that story will need to wait for our next update because we plan on having too much fun for any computing for the rest of the day.  We also want to keep this afternoon update short; so let’s move on.

The rest of our Saturday was a lot of fun.  Mom and Dad hosted one of the family dinners; we went visiting in the evening, and while Ehlana and I got to do another sleepover with Naomi and Aiden; all of our cousins were elsewhere for the night.  Jayden and Susan might have liked to hang out with us again too, but he was booked for the night with Caleb and Faith; and the Everetts hosted a small gang of guys for video gaming without keeping most of the boys for the night too.  We were happy for the quieter night; most of the adults in the house turned in early last night; and our co-ed sofa sleepover followed only one Christmas movie and the cuddle and chat time that helped us to wind down toward nap time.

Rain didn’t arrive until shortly after our Tai Chi workout by the river, and it was still in the mid-fifties then; so we enjoyed the workout before getting started on making breakfast and taking turns getting ready for church this morning.  Getting rides to church kept us from getting soaked this morning; the service was wonderful and filled with Christmas joy that we loved to share with all of our favorite people.  The stores were open this afternoon and the Inn offered three buffets at noon, two, and four, but all of the rain affected the final shopping hours before Christmas; and dampened the holiday cheer a bit – at least for anyone getting wet between stores and vehicles!  Our family went to the noon buffet; tried to help Miranda and Stephanie by eating quickly and then heading for our homes or elsewhere; and only a handful of us added in a bit of bonus shopping – not including any of the tweens in our group.  We had our friends over for a short music practice ahead of the song we’ll be doing tonight; and then we spent the rest of the time playing with our family and friends.  That pretty much brings us up to now; we’re multi-tasking getting ready for the Christmas Eve service and getting our gear ready to go; and we’ll only be doing a snack dinner because everyone is still basically full after the buffet at the Inn.  Stay tuned for our next report while we wrap this up and move on.

We’re going with two picks for Christmas music videos; so enjoy them while we get back to our ongoing Christmas fun!
