Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - February 1, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Babysitting might not be popular with a lot of our friends, but we had fun last night with our cousins and friends while the parents were out playing with their friends at Patricia’s birthday dinner and party.  It was a work and school night, so they didn’t party all night, but they did have fun; and we’re glad that we could help out with that chance for some ‘grown-up time’ for Mom, Dad, and the other parents.  We’ll leave the birthday party news to others to write about in their journals; and just cover our own news of the past two days.

Our babysitting adventures began with some social time as our cousins and the other kids came over or were dropped off, and since the last day of January was still very cold; we played in the lounge and sunroom until the Pizzeria pizza was delivered by Dad after he was done work.  We – the babysitters – took care of getting everyone fed; and we do not need to comment on the food and drinks games that Zack and Eli led.  For the most part, dinner was a hit – including with the Olde Bakery desserts; and then we moved on to video gaming in the lounge; a band practice that all of the girls joined us for as our test audience; and we watched the live action Monster High movie.

That took us up to the first parental pick-ups for the kids that didn’t stay with us last night; and we got started on getting the rest of the kids into their beds and off to sleep with stories and music.  Mom and Dad were home with the first group of parents, but they worked in the office and left the kids up to us to get to sleep.  Once we had that done; we wound down in the lounge and were a bit exhausted; so the co-ed sofa sleepover wasn’t actually planned this time – we just fell asleep.

This morning was a crazy-busy adventure, so the quiet time for Tai Chi was needed; and then we were busy all the way through to getting all of the kids to school or back with their parents.  Breakfast and the work on either side of it was mixed in with taking turns getting ready for the day; and at least two of the babysitters in the gang would have liked to have a nap during our morning classes.  We didn’t do that, but our school day was quiet enough that we recovered from the babysitting work!

The first day of February was still cold, but it is warming up; and we’re expecting another blast of warmer days as we head into the weekend.  We will want more outdoor time when we get there, but for today; we opted for lab or archives play time after school; Naomi and Aiden came over after dinner for our band practice and a Magi lesson with Mom; and then we did some family business work after walking our best friends home and taking Silkie for that walk too.  We’re getting tired again and need to get some sleep; so that’s all we have for tonight.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
