Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 38th Birthday, Aunt Grace!
We’re technically on our own for a little while right now, but have emergency help available while Mom and Dad are at the pub with the gang that stopped in there after the co-ed ball practices to help Aunt Grace with her birthday celebration.
The weather today was really great again, and while our test-writing didn’t allow for extra outdoor time at school; we managed to mix a bit of studying with our friends with fresh air time and a bit of biking too after school. We couldn’t really do that for long because we also needed to help out with the birthday barbeque work at the Everetts that Uncle Mark hosted but had lots of help with for putting the meal and desserts together. We had fun with all of that; helped with the kid control during the dinner; and then continued to do that while we all headed for the park and the baseball practice entertainment. We played more than watched baseball; some of us went for a swim in the river too; and then we came home with Mom and Dad – though they only stayed long-enough to get changed before they headed over to the pub. We moved on to bath or Jacuzzi time after they left; had a music practice once cleaned up; and now we’re winding down toward nap time while waiting for Mom and Dad to get home. They are not going to stay out late on a work night; so we don’t expect that they’ll be much longer.
That’s all of our news for today. We can also report that Michael has been busy with his family and will be spending another night with Rebecca and Lucas. He might be back here tomorrow night – or with Jake and Stephanie; and then he isn’t sure whether he’ll head back to the townhouse on Friday or stay longer. That’ll depend on Cassie’s schedule and workload for the weekend, and while they don’t like being apart at all; he may stay longer now and then not come back again until the holiday weekend.
Finally, we want to wrap up this report with a very minor world news update. Nothing has really changed for any of the current crises – except that the situations continue to get worse and politicians continue to do the wrong things. The conflict in Ukraine is awful; the global consequences are still just beginning as energy and food prices climb and hurt the poorest people the most; and there are no signs that our world leaders are willing to change and start doing what is best for all of us. Covid is barely paid any attention from most politicians anymore, but the drop in daily new cases is likely only temporary; and we are a long way from the end of Covid and all of the effects the pandemic has had on our societies and economic systems. We don’t want to get into a long rant again; so let’s continue to hope for better while planning to deal with worse; and try not to let all of that bad get in the way of the happiness and love that we are so blessed to have here at home – and that we will, eventually, get to share with the entire world!
