Ethan and Ehlana:
This has been the hottest ‘feels like’ day of the year-so-far, and while we loved the heat a lot; that next-level takes time to get used to again. Our Sunday began fairly-quietly – and comparatively-cool – with Tai Chi by the river and an easy-breakfast. We took time to pack up our campsite before church while taking turns getting ready and helping with the breakfast clean-up; and then our adventures at church and Sunday school kept us busy and happy through until lunchtime – in-part because of a long service and also an extended chat time with our neighbors after the service and along the way home. Mom and Dad only had two kids with them for lunch, and by the time we finished that second round of clean-up; the temperature was hitting triple digits.
The hot had everything to do with why we only did a bit of biking this afternoon with our cousins and friends; we opted for a lot of swim and play time in the river; and frozen treats were at the center of all afternoon snacks. Most of that play time was in our back yard; we had fun with all of the swimming and games – though that wasn’t with Dad because he worked in the office for a lot of the afternoon while getting ready for his upcoming week in the city. Ehlana and I ended up having a quiet dinner-for-four with Mom and Dad while our friends and family had other plans; we followed that up with a quiet work evening in the office; and that ended comparatively-early because we all wanted to get cleaned up and ready for bed early ahead of the usual early start to our Mondays on Dad’s trip to the city weeks.
That’s our news for the day, but before we move on to nap time; let’s add in a bit of local and college news.
First up – Happy 47th Birthday, Martin Landry! We’d normally have at least something about that kind of news at the start of our updates, but we didn’t end up seeing Tim’s Dad at all because he spent a lot of his birthday dealing with a farm equipment repair. The timing of that break-down sucked for the Landrys, and this problem was apparently tough-enough that they needed two teams of mechanics taking turns to get the repair done – along with two drivers that did a tough overnight round-trip for parts from an out-of-state supplier. When we hear stories like that; we’re very glad that our work-futures will be at the lab and archives! ;^)
Cassie and Michael have had a good weekend, and Cassie is a bit busier than she expected thanks to a visiting professor that is, apparently, doing more visiting than teaching; and leaving basically all of the work to her. In this case, getting along with the legacy system will be her only ‘education’ – though it is still possible that she’ll learn something that is actually related to her doctoral studies from the apparently-disinterested old guy. Michael can’t help her out with the workload, but he is taking care of her; and keeps busy with his own family business work and plans on some outdoor adventures too. Maybe we’ll be able to visit them and help him out with that for a week or two this summer! ;^)
Okay, that’s enough for tonight. We want to be ready for that early wake-up call; and then with all of the fun we’ll be having for the last week of school. Stay tuned; since the weather won’t be the only thing heating up as we start the five-day countdown to our summer holidays!
Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
