Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 21, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

We had fun last night with Cassie, Michael, and our best friends, but we needed to head for our beds too-soon; and are already missing them again.  There was Tai Chi by the river and breakfast for eight first before Cassie and Michael hit the road toward the sunny south again and we went to school; so that made for a happy start to our day to go with the sad that came with the goodbyes.  Mother Nature wasn’t teasing our sister and brother-in-law today, but we all enjoyed the warm-up into the seventies again; and that was true at school too thanks to bonus outdoor class time.  The warm weather and break from the weekend rain had everything to do with why Ehlana and I went biking on the trails with our friends after school.  That was our entertainment highlight of the day, but then we went home for dinner with Mom and Dad; took care of the clean-up; and then we went to the lab or archives for some quality work-play time that kept us busy until ten-thirty.  The actual work time was longer thanks to the time phasing; and we feel pretty good about what we got done tonight even with the biking and pay break with our friends.

After getting home, we had a quick visit with Mom and Dad that included a short Magi lesson with Mom; baht or Jacuzzi time was needed before getting ready for bed; and now our computer checks and twin chat has kept us busy and up past-midnight.  We are not going to take another night off from news commentary; so let’s get to that now.  The top story from today is that Pope Francis passed away, and while we often disagreed with a lot of what he had to say and teach to his worldwide congregation, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is mourning his passing today.  We’ll also keep you posted whenever the next Pope is chosen.  Next-closest to that story for top spot would be the Easter truce that Russia initiated for only about thirty hours including all of Easter Sunday, but while the fighting slowed a bit; there wasn’t a total stoppage; and there were still thousands of truce violations – a shocking number when we are only talking about thirty hours!  That truce is over, though, and Russia and Ukraine are still far-apart when it comes to their expectations for ending the conflict.  There were more talks related to the conflicts in the Middle East, but other than commitments for more talks; there are no serious changes in actions and the killing and destruction continues.  The tariff tiffs roll on with no end in sight; and that continues to cause economic and financial problems – though we’ll continue to point out that in most of those cases, all winners have corresponding losers; so it is really just the unpredictability of current events that are causing the stress.

Fortunately for our family businesses, we don’t need to worry about market volatility at all, and while we can have issues with currency fluctuations, we also have plenty of reserves available in all major and minor currencies; and we always buy and sell when most-advantageous to us anyway.  For the record and the fun of it, let’s mention that gold is doing pretty well right now in the markets; so Mom might be selling a bit of the gold that Cassie and Michael recovered from that yacht that Sabre sunk during their fight with him.  While they don’t normally do that sort of thing with the Dark Magi they defeat, in this case, we’re putting those resources to much-better use than Sabre ever did; and it wouldn’t have done any good for anyone at the bottom of that cove!

Okay, that’s enough for tonight.  We’re starting out countdown to our trip to Washington now, but that won’t feel different until next week; so we’ll just roll along with our normal daily adventures; and keep you up-to-date with our stories and other news along the way.  Stay tuned for that while we wrap this up and go get some sleep starting right now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
