Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 13th Anniversary, Uncle Nick and Aunt Deborah!
We may be back to normal after our cousins’ hometown vacation visit, but we’re going with an afternoon update because Ehlana and I are going to be split up for separate co-ed sleepovers tonight; so we won’t be able to write in our journals later. Our day began with wet weather, so Tai Chi was indoors; we had breakfast with Mom and Dad; and then Ehlana and I headed to the lab or archives for the rest of the morning. We were happy to get back to our work with beakers or books; picked up where we left off; and got a fair bit done before we needed to get home for lunch.
Now we’re to one of our top personal news stories of the day – football! Okay, Ehlana doesn’t agree with that, but then she is going to try out for the cheer squad with Naomi; and that won’t be as-much fun for them if Aiden and I can’t make the football team next month. Being ready for tryouts is why Miles and Joshua drafted us for extra football workouts starting today. They want morning practices, but due to the rain this morning; they moved today’s workout to after lunch. We know this is similar to what Tim did with Michael and some of their friends, but not exactly the same; since we aren’t doing as much as they did – or at least we aren’t doing that yet. We have seen enough football workouts from some of our favorite teens of the past to know what to do, though, so our workout was still decent – even if some of us don’t really need to train like that to be good-enough for the team. For the early record, let’s mention that Miles wants to be a quarterback – though that might be a tough spot to get on the team when the quarterback from the past two seasons is a returning senior. Aiden and I are already being pushed into being wide receivers; and that’s entirely because we’re the best Miles has for catching his passes. We don’t need to go on about this, but we had a good practice; and we’ll keep working out with the other guys when we can between now and the actual team training camp in August.
Moving along, after that workout, we all went for a swim; some of us stayed together for biking on the trails at the park, but it was really hot again today; so we didn’t do that for long before opting for more swim time. Extra time with favorite girls in swimsuits was a great bonus; and I’ll mention that Naomi and Ehlana get a bit more attention from other guys than I’d like, but then Ehlana would tell you the same happens for Aiden and me with other girls; so I shouldn’t be sexist about that when none of us has anything to worry about when we’re already permanently matched. We’re home now to get cleaned up and ready for Uncle Nick and Aunt Deborah’s anniversary dinner. Naomi’s parents are hosting that little party, and that’s also while I’ll be staying with her for the night while Ehlana is taking the opportunity to host some quality alone time with Aiden at our house. We might get drafted for a bit of babysitting too, but don’t expect the parents to be out late on a Monday night – if they decide to go to the pub or elsewhere at all. We’ll find out eventually, but right now we need to get over to Naomi’s house because we’ve been drafted to help with some of the dinner prep work – including helping Mom with getting our contributions over there now.
That’s also why we’ll skip and world news updates, but we do want to mention that Cassie and Michael are enjoying their first day in Portugal; they’ve been doing some sightseeing already; and there is likely some partying still going on for them – unless the three couples in their little group are opting for splitting up early after not getting a lot of sleep on their overnight flight. If that’s true; we won’t have anything new to add to their news; since those kinds of details are not needed or wanted by the younger siblings! We really do need to go now; so that’s all for this report.
