Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 25, 2021

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Happy 7th Birthday, Sebastian Ayres!

A Thanksgiving Day birthday probably sounds either good or bad to people depending on perspective, and in Sebastian’s case; he’s loved having most of his family home to celebrate his special day and a little sad that he couldn’t really do a friends’ party when most of them were with their own families today and unavailable for a party.  He has had an awesome day, though; and we’re all very happy tonight!

For the family news, most of the Johnson clan is here for the weekend – except for Jonathan and Savannah because they’re with her family for Thanksgiving.  While we’re not technically members of Uncle Adam’s extended family; we’re spending a lot of our time with them while our family is having an ‘away’ holiday and Cassie and Michael are already at an away game – the final regular season game for Michael, Tim, and their team that they’ll be playing tomorrow.  We also have Naomi’s connection to the Johnson clan through her Aunt Deborah, and that worked for us today because Naomi’s family was included in the Thanksgiving dinner fun too.

We didn’t host any meals yet, but Mom and Dad helped out with the meals and desserts for dinner last night and the lunch and dinner meals today.  Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne hosted those meals and most of the family-and-friends’ fun so far;   Dinner last night followed our biking and park play adventures.  We had less than half of the Johnson clan in town for that meal; so we got to have more time with the guests we did have – and with Grandma and Grandpa too.  The rest of our evening last night was a mix of gaming, movies, and helping with incoming guests through until we came home with Naomi and Aiden for the rest of the night at a bit before eleven o’clock.  Our co-ed sofa sleepover began soon-after we got home; we stayed up too-late watching a Christmas movie; and then we didn’t get much sleep before we needed to be up again for Tai Chi by the river this morning.

Our morning workout was very chilly with the wind-chill in the low-twenties and frost on the ground.  The drop to that from the warm of the last two days was a bit shocking, but also helped us to feel like Christmas is here; so we can’t really complain about that – especially when the rest of the weekend is looking pretty good for all of the rest of the fun we have planned.  After our workout, we had a hot breakfast; took care of some chores; and then headed over to the Carringtons’ for the rest of the day.  We played with our cousins and friends for most of the morning – including video gaming and other indoor entertainment; lunch was a snack meal; and then there was more family play time and football watching through until the mid-afternoon dinner event.  As always, that meal was over-the-top awesome; we ate too much; and then the clean-up was massive and took more than an hour.  The fun wind-down followed that blast of work; and the ‘party’ wrapped up by around ten o’clock.

We shouldn’t skip mentioning that our dinner and some of the play time today included celebrating Sebastian’s birthday – including his gifts and birthday cake, but we were on the edges of a lot of his birthday fun for various reasons – including the work we helped with and hanging out with other cousins.

We don’t have any overnight guests with us tonight – mostly because the visiting cousins have other plans for the night and our best friends are busy with their own families tonight and for a lot of tomorrow too.  We’re pretty much finished with our news for today; so we’re going to wrap this up and get some sleep while we can.  Our holiday fun is going to continue in the morning with the Black Friday shopping adventure, and we want to be ready for that; so, until next time...
