Ethan and Ehlana:
Today has been a near-repeat of our first day of November. The weather was cooler, but without any rain; our school day was a return to normal studies after all of the Halloween fun; and we worked at the lab or archives after school because we could – and our friends were more-interested in indoors play time anyway. We followed all of that up with another work evening in the office; and that’s pretty much all of our news for our own adventures today.
Before we move on to nap time; we’re overdue for a pandemic update. We hit a sad milestone as we wrapped up October – five million deaths worldwide; and we’re most-surprised by the near-total lack of interest in that story at any level of the media or even generally for most people. We understand how tired everyone is getting about dealing with the daily impact of the pandemic, but we’re saddened by the worst reactions from too-many people. We should all have compassion for the people who have lost loved ones or are seriously-ill from Covid. We should also be helping each other instead of tearing communities and families apart for any reason. The historian in our little twin-duo wishes that we’d learn from past mistakes while we watch history repeat again with modern versions of previous reactions to plagues and pandemics. ‘Canceling’ people might sound better than what was done in the name of public good throughout history, but the results are the same and will inevitably only hurt people without doing any good at all. Ehlana would like to add that the actual science doesn’t support draconian measures to isolate, segregate, or otherwise marginalize anyone once a virus has become endemic. We’re going to need to learn to live with Covid-19 – just as we do for colds, the flu, and all of the other diseases that are common in the general population.
We don’t want to rant about the pandemic-related problems that are happening all around the world, and maybe our feelings are skewed because we don’t have most of those problems here at home, but we do know how we should care for each other; and will never understand why anyone would choose hate over love. We’ll always choose to love everyone – even the bad guys that hate us; and hope that the concept will spread around the world.
Yes, that will happen with the coming Ascension of the Light, but wouldn’t it be much nicer for everyone if that could happen sooner instead of later?
Okay, that is definitely enough for tonight, and we’re ready to get some sleep now; so, until next time...
