Ehlana and Ethan:
Warmer weather again today had us taking
the afternoon off from the lab or archives to bike and play with our friends
instead. We took our studying outdoors
for the last hour or so this morning too; so we’ve had more play time than work
today. Our home schooling is here at
home this week; so Naomi and Aiden stayed for lunch – which we had in the
sunroom with Mom, Dad, and our favorite collegians; and then we hopped on our
bikes and hit the trails for the long ride around town to the park.
Biking as one of our few outdoor
entertainment options can get a bit tedious, but we had friends out at the park
in their own little groups; Miles and Joshua set up group competition
challenges with signs that they posted at some of our favorite trail-heads; and
we joined in on that fun. We also won
that overall challenge – as well as most of the individual ‘races’ along the
way, but other than bragging rights; there were no prizes beyond having a
couple of hours of semi-shared time with the friends we haven’t been able to
hang out with directly at school or anywhere else for weeks now.
The fact that Miles and Joshua actually
took the time to put that together for everyone was awesome; and they earned
some unexpected points today. That’s
noteworthy for our journals; since they’re usually more-likely to lose points
for their practical jokes and trying to goad their favorite girls into fights.
;^)
Moving along, we stayed out and played
until dinnertime; split up for the rest of the day; and it has been quiet
around here because our collegians have a lot of work to do along with starting
to get ready for their final exams.
While we’re on that topic, we should mention that Cassie is set up for
her summer school session; and the only uncertainty for her is whether the
college will be open for in-person classes; or she’ll be doing that session
online instead. We’ve loved having them home
now, but she’d rather be at the college and helping her friends instead; so we’ll
hope for the best.
May is also making her summer plans, since
she isn’t going to risk going home to China and then not be able to get back
here easily, but any sightseeing or travel will depend on when lockdowns around
the country get lifted; so she hasn’t confirmed anything yet. She’s having fun with looking at the options
and the planning, though; so that’s helping a bit with the boredom that is
definitely affection the teens and adults even more than the kids right now –
at least in our house.
We weren’t bored tonight because we did our
‘real’ studying in the lounge while the office was college-central; our music
practice was pretty good; and then we just finished bath or Jacuzzi time. The adults in the house are still working or
studying right now, but we’ve had enough fun for today; so we’ll wrap this up
and go get some sleep soon. The only bit
of news that we wanted to add for tonight is family charity related. Local travel volunteers have now officially
cancelled all trips through the summer – or will reschedule them if possible
for later in the year. That’s tough for
them, since they love going on those adventures, but the travel restrictions in
most countries just makes doing that work all but impossible right now. Too much work and planning goes into those
trips to keep that up only to have to cancel them at the last minute; so we’ll
wait for the situation to improve; and do some work online or in other ways
when that’s an option. That isn’t always
possible, so some projects will be delayed, but that can’t be helped; so we’ll
just deal with it.
That’s it, so we’re out of here; and off to
nap-land!
