Cassie's Journal - May 4, 2017

Welcome home, Grandma and Grandpa!

Michael and I got to have a little visit with them tonight, but they were tired by the time we got home from the Inn and our dinner shift; so they went home by eight-thirty to try and get some sleep – though they expect to have trouble with that over the next few days while trying to get back on home time.

My day was easier than theirs, but I don’t really have much to write about tonight.  Tai Chi was indoors due to a cool morning instead of rain; we had a busy school day that included bonus time to study for our SATs; and then Michael and I worked at the Inn until just before game night started.  While we were busy with that, we missed out on the family dinner that Mom and Dad hosted for Grandma and Grandpa; but we did at least get to see everyone for that short visit before everyone went home.  Zack thinks it’s funny that our grandparents needed to go home to bed so early, but he didn’t have too much fun with that – once he was threatened with no more travel stories if he kept messing with Grandpa.

I haven’t heard any of those stories yet, and have no idea whether I’ll have time to do that anytime soon; since we have a very busy weekend coming up.  I’m not going to add any details here, but that fun is going to start in a few hours; and roll on through birthdays, a wedding, and an anniversary.  Add in my trip on Saturday to take my SAT, extra work at the Inn, and weekend babysitting; and there’s a good chance that I’m going to be even more-exhausted by Monday morning than I am right now.

It’s a good thing that self-healing is an option!

Going to sleep now is an option too, and I don't need to bore myself with the work and study news from the rest of my night to do that, but stay tuned for an eventful next few days; since this is going to be fun – even with all of the work!

Cassie's Journal - May 3, 2017

Grandma and Grandpa are on the way home; and will get here sometime tomorrow afternoon.  They’re hopping the big pond overnight; and will fly into our home airport in the morning.  They’re making a big time zone hop too over the past couple of days; so we may not get to spend much time with them for the first couple of days they’re home while they make the switch to home time.  It will be nice having them here for Mother’s Day and Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne’s anniversary, though; and I’m glad that they’ll be home again – and staying here for most of the summer.

While they’ve been having an exhausting travel day; it’s been quiet around here.  The rain hasn’t been heavy but has been around all day until around dinnertime making things cool and damp for everyone.  That’s why I’ve been indoors most of the day; and that’s included our usual, mid-week work night.  The SAT push continued at school today, but that really isn’t a big deal for me – or for Michael either.  I should mention that not everyone is taking an SAT on Saturday – at least not in our Grade Eleven class.  Most of us will be taking the ‘main’ SAT test in the fall; so we’re taking the ‘extra’ tests we need for our hoped-for college specialties.  For me, that means more language tests; and Michael is taking the mathematics SAT.

That isn’t really very exciting; though I’m sure that Dad will post my results in his office because he has fun with that; but it really isn’t something I’ll brag about when I first passed all of those tests when I was still a pre-schooler the first time I unofficially took them.  We didn’t have much going on with the rest of my school day; and my morning had been quiet too – with indoors Tai Chi and a standard school day breakfast.  After three tough, long days; I was ready to get at my family business work and languages studies as soon as I got home from school.  Mom, Ethan, and Ehlana were still at the lab then, so I kicked up my work into time phase gear; and kept at it like that until dinner was ready.  I took a break to eat; we all worked or studied for a while after dinner in another time phase; and then I needed to work in normal time to get work done that I needed the internet or intranet to get finished.

I had a lot to do, so it was heading toward ten o’clock by the time I was done; Ethan and Ehlana went to bed them too; and I took time for a soak in my Jacuzzi before getting ready for bed and tucking myself in with Mandy.  I’ve done one last round of computer checks – including checking up on Grandma and Grandpa’s flight; and now I’m ready to crash and nap for the rest of the night.  I really need to recharge now; since I can’t keep self-healing day after day indefinitely.  One decent night of rest won’t fix everything, but it will help; so, until next time...

I am running on fumes tonight after three long, busy days in a row; so here’s another micro-report.

Take a standard Tuesday with school, three practices, studying, a Magi lesson, and my usual family business work and language studies; add in some SAT prep fun; shake and mix well; pour out slowly over about twenty-two hours; and that’s been my day.

Happy 4^th Birthday, Leah!  Happy 16^th Birthday, Diana!

This has been one of those days when we actually could get in on the friends and family fun; yet we had to juggle two parties and it all ended up being a rush of too busy and not all that much time spent with anyone – at least for Michael and me.  Before I get to the parties report, though; let’s take a micro look at the rest of my day.

It was cold, wet, and unpleasant around here this morning; so Tai Chi was indoors.  Michael went home for breakfast because he could do that with his parents on their day off; though they were working at the Inn today anyway – just not in the kitchen or dining room.  We had a busy day at school because the rush is on for SAT preparations; and Diana’s lunchtime birthday fun was a great way to get started with a new month.  Michael and I started to get busy after school because we were drafted to help out with Leah’s party.  Her father and grandmother led that effort while Aunt Deborah was busy at the clinic until it closed, but Michael and I helped with getting Leah, her cousins, and friends to their home from daycare or elsewhere; we kept them entertained with fun and party games until dinnertime; and then helped to get the younger kids fed while Leah had the usual birthday fun with her parents and best friends.

Doing all of that with Leah’s party meant that we missed dinner at Diana’s party, but we headed over to her place after helping with the post-dinner clean-up at Leah’s home while she had a bit more play time with her friends ahead of a small sleepover with just two of her besties.  We spent two hours with Diana and the rest of our friends, but her party wrapped up early too because we all had homework – or SAT studying – to get done too.  I brought Michael home with me for that; we were here by ten-thirty; and used a time phase for both our studying and Mom’s Magi lesson with us.  We needed to keep up appearances for actually doing that work in real time, so Michael stayed to help me with putting the twins to bed; and then we had a bit of quiet make-out time in the lounge until he went home at midnight.

That made my start to the ‘real’ work and studying a bit later than I’d have liked, but at least I was smiling while getting to that work after seeing Michael out and on his way home! ;^)

I’m not going to spend much time on the work and studying I’ve been doing since Michael left and I got ready for bed and tucked in with Mandy, but should mention that we are trying to be ready in case we need to do whatever we can to help out in some of the areas around the world where there are serious geo-political problems right now.  I definitely don’t want to get started on the stupidity behind a lot of these issues, but we’re concerned about the people being hurt most by the violence and potential for conflict – as well as the other problems being faced in too many countries right now.  My part in the work Mom’s having us do right now includes moving resources around to be available for our charities if needed; expediting some business projects to help where we can do that too; and in several countries, we’re backing off until it’s safer to do more again.  That’s a tough call to make, but while we don’t want to risk people who work for us un-necessarily; there are still other things we can do in other ways.

It is late, though, and I’ll save up my rants on the injustices of our world for another time.  We’ve had a good day; I’m glad of that; and now I need to crash and nap for a while; so, until next time...

Cassie's Journal - April 30, 2017

This is the last day of the month, and I probably should write more because of that, but it’s late; I’m tired; and this is going to be a micro-update.

Tai Chi was indoors; breakfast was at Michael’s for me; and the rain kept us indoors as much as possible – and dodging the rain when we needed to get from home to church to the Inn and then, eventually, home again.  I have no news from church; Michael and I worked the full shift at the Inn; and we studied during our break – though that was just for show to get ready for our upcoming SAT tests.  The work was hard and mostly-fun – at least for those of us working the dining rooms; but I was tired by the time we were ready to head home at ten o’clock.  I stopped in for a visit with Michael at his house, but kept that short; and then came home and really got to work.

Mom’s Magi lesson was up first for that; I spent fifteen minutes with the twins after that; and then came up to my room and multi-tasked some Jacuzzi time with language studies.  I needed to do a lot of time phasing to get all of the work and studying done; and still had hours more to do in real time – which is why it’s so late and I’m totally fried.  Heading into nap mode now is an option, though, and I’m past-ready to do that; so, until next time...
