Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 2, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Before we back up to the holiday news; let’s cover our story for today.  Ehlana had the better breakfast with the bakery treats at Aiden’s house while Naomi and I had a ‘normal’ workday breakfast, but we probably had more fun with the start to our day – though I’ll skip the details despite the fact that Naomi does include some of those more-personal stories in her journals!  We all spent time of chores at multiple homes after breakfast, and while some of that work was done as a team of four; we didn’t meet up together until the chores were done at Naomi’s and Aiden’s homes.  We also took a break for a visit with Cassie and Michael at their home; and we had lunch together at our house before Naomi and Aiden moved on to other plans.  Ehlana and I spent the afternoon at the lab or archives, and we got a lot done before heading home for dinner and the evening with just Mom and Dad.  We worked on family business and charity projects after that meal and the clean-up; some time phasing helped us to get a lot done; and then bath or Jacuzzi time was needed before we got around to the bedtime computing and twin chat fun.

There has been so much going on around the world, we could offer an extended report on the worst that humans can be toward each other, but I’m not Ehlana; and usually avoid rants about those awful stories.  She does have a good point about writing some current event stories in our journals, though, so we’ll mention a few of them tonight.  Here in our country, there were a couple of terror attacks in New Orleans and Vegas that are still getting a lot of attention, but while they were awful; I’d like to point out that the casualties and damage caused in both events are tiny compared to daily casualties and horrors happening in the top five conflicts elsewhere in the world.  Along with the fighting in Ukraine and the Middle East, leaders in all countries involved continue to make things worse – whether that is happening economically or through allowing atrocities to happen either directly or from looking the other way while so many people suffer.  Political idiocies continue as the transition to our new president roll along toward inauguration day; and we can only hope that the coming year won’t be as-bad or worse than the last one for so much of the rest of the world.  Yes, we could put blinders on and live here in our little bit of paradise in happy ignorance, but that isn’t going to happen; and we’ll continue to help where we can to make life better for as many people as we can help through our family resources.

Moving along to our holiday adventures, the New Year’s Eve dinner and party at the Inn was amazing – and definitely one of our best date nights of the year.  In addition to all of the great food, we got to share the night with a lot of our favorite people; Naomi and the Holiday Harmonies provided some of the music – along with other contributors that included Cassie and Michael; and Naomi assures me that I didn’t disappoint with the midnight kiss! ;^)

Naomi and Aiden came home after the party with Ehlana and me, but since we also stayed and helped with the party clean-up; we also pretty much crashed and napped soon after getting home and ready for bed.  New Year’s Day was all about more fun with our family and friends; we enjoyed all of the play time that included an outdoor adventure; video gaming; movies; and even a bit of football watching for the college bowl games.  We helped with some of the work around the meals and with kid control too; and our parents were okay with getting the kid-free night after hosting that party.  Let’s also add that Cassie and Michael visited, but they also spent a lot of the day with his family; since a day off for the Stone and Basset families when all of the businesses are closed is comparatively-rare.  The details from our co-ed sleepovers with Naomi or Aiden aren’t required, but again for the record; I know that Naomi and I had more fun while on our own – and I’m totally saying that because we know that Ehlana and Aiden fell asleep at least two hours before we did! ;^)

That isn’t really a very detailed report from the mid-week holiday, but we’re also tired and ready to get some sleep; so it is enough for tonight.  Yes, we’re taking a break from holiday break sleepovers, but will have another one tomorrow night with our four best friends as part of our plans for the last weekday of our Christmas break.  That is all for tonight, though; so we’re out of here and off to dreamland very soon.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
