Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 29, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

The temperature drop from the mid-fifties yesterday afternoon to a wind chill of minus-one by this morning was probably the top story for a quiet local news day.  It was a small shock to be outdoors when we went to church this morning, and since it didn’t warm up all that much through the day; we spent most of our time indoors.  We had a good morning at church and Sunday school; lunch and dinner were quiet meals with Mom and Dad; and Naomi and Aiden came over for a few hours this afternoon for a band practice and a movie.  Our evening included a Magi lesson with Mom and bath or Jacuzzi time, but we’re not staying up late tonight.

We are going to crash and nap soon, but before we go there; we want to write about a bit of a comparison between us and Cassie at our age – partially because that’s something that Ehlana – and Naomi – have been thinking and talking about recently.  No, I don’t need to have Ehlana take over for this part of our update – though she reserves the right to do that whenever she wants to comment on issues that I don’t want to write about for her!  In this case, the girls will want me to mention that the winter of Cassie’s twelfth birthday included her struggles with ‘crossing over’ – or more-specifically; her efforts not to cross over and admit that she was in love with Michael.  That is obviously very different for us; since Ehlana and I have been in love with our perfect matches since before we had our links with each other when we were seven; so we haven’t gone through any of that drama at all.  That’s fun to talk about and compare, but the bigger comparison that we’re thinking about tonight is the work levels that Cassie kept up with at our current age.  She regularly worked until the wee hours of the morning a lot of nights; and we basically don’t do that.  She got into a lot of experimenting with using time phases for her work too, but then those experiments have a lot to do with why we aren’t doing the same thing now that we know the effects of doing that a lot during puberty years.

It’s funny that at the time, Cassie pondered whether we were working too-hard as toddlers when we were finishing high school and starting college while getting a fraction of the sleep we did back then – or now.  We have learned more from Cassie than to limit time phasing for the next couple of years, but our lack of late work nights is something that we’re wondering about – as in deciding whether we should do more than we currently are for the lab, archives, and family business activities.  We don’t do as much studying for our Magi lessons as Cassie did either, but that is partly because our training is better thanks to the programs that Mom and Cassie worked out – and we have less to read because they’ve weeded out a lot of information that has proved to not be very useful.

There are obvious differences – such as Cassie’s focus on language studies, and we have our own unique talents too, but we are also sure that Cassie worked a lot harder than we are now.  We aren’t feeling guilty about that – we’re simply wondering whether we should do more.  There aren’t any insights coming our way about that one way or the other; so it is possible that we won’t or shouldn’t change anything.  Cassie had reasons for all of the work and training she spent so much time doing – and still is doing now; our lives are going to be different from hers; and maybe that’s all that we need to accept about all of this.  My books will be here for me no matter how long it takes me to take our archives to the next level; and Ehlana will never run out of new research opportunities.  Cassie, on the other hand, will be taking her future plans to the next level starting in just a handful of months now; and we’ll get to be here to watch her take all of that training and put it to amazing uses around the world!

Okay, that’s enough for tonight, and we really are ready to get some sleep soon; so we’re out of here!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
