We’ve been having a play day with our
friends; Naomi and Aiden are staying for a sleepover ahead of our family
Christmas weekend and the house full of guests we’ll have by tomorrow night;
and I’m doing this update early so that I can spend the rest of the day
continuing the family and friends fun time.
Sure, there’s been some work going on too,
but the chores and prep work for the weekend didn’t get in the way of the fun
and play time; and all that’s important for this report is that we’re having
one of those good, but uneventful, days. Some gaming is about to get started in the lounge again as we head
toward dinnertime; so I’m going to wrap this up and get back to the fun.Check out the next report for the rest of the
story for today – along with the start of our New Year’s holiday weekend.

That micro report works for me – and I’m
going to get back to the play time with our friends too.The indoor-outdoor entertainments today
really haven’t been newsworthy, but we’re enjoying the holiday from school; and
I’m glad that we’ve gotten to spend some bonus time with Cassie and her friends
too; since we’ll definitely have to share her over the next four or five days.
Okay, that’s it for me too; and Naomi is
going to make sure that I keep away from my computer and any work – at least
for the rest of the day.

The news of the day is that we don’t have
much news to report.Sure, the breakfast
buffet at the Inn was great, but I’m a bit worn out from all of the shopping;
so that wasn’t as much fun for me as it was for the girls.Don’t be too shocked by this, but I’ve even
temporarily hit my limit on Olde Bakery treats; though that didn’t keep me from
having some of them for desserts at lunch and dinner.
We had a quiet play afternoon in with Naomi
and Aiden; our meals consisted of Christmas leftovers – including those bakery
treats; and we wrapped up our day with movies in the lounge.Naomi and Aiden were picked up and taken home
after the first evening movie; Michael came over in time for the second – and brought
pizzeria pizza snacks; and now we’re all heading for our beds – Michael included;
since Cassie decided to keep him for a cuddle buddy instead of having him go
home only to come back for Tai Chi in the morning.
Okay, that’s pretty much all I have for
today, and I’m ready to crash and nap; so I’m going to go and do that starting
right now.

What Ethan said; with one addition. The Johnson clan – as well as most Christmas
visitors – has gone home now.We did our
goodbyes on the shopping fly; and didn’t really get involved much in the work
that went into packing up and loading vehicles for those trips back home. That didn’t have anything to do with why we’ve
had a quieter day – we’re all just tired and ready for some lazy entertainment
that even included afternoon naps for some of us.
That ended up being more than I planned on
adding to this report, and I want to get to sleep too; so that’s all for
tonight.

Here’s a triple dose of Christmas music to
take you through until next year – or however long it is before you get around
to reading our journals from next Christmas! ;^)
Our Christmas Day began too-early for
everyone except Ehlana and me, but we managed to help Mom, Dad, Cassie,
Michael, and May to have fun checking out the contents of our stockings and
opening our Christmas gifts.Cassie and
Michael needed that early wake-up call because they had to be at his house for
breakfast and another round of Christmas gift fun; while we got to keep May and
have breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa. We got to enjoy a quiet morning; Cassie and Michael were back with us
for our early Christmas dinner lunch; and then we all did some running around for
some Christmas Day visits – which for Ehlana and me included visits with Naomi
and Aiden to exchange gifts with them.
Cassie and Michael had to move on to a
visit with Rowen and Tim that they took May with them for; and then they
dropped her off again and continued on to their next family dinner – this one
with the Bassett side of Michael’s family. While they were busy, we got to keep playing and had a
comparatively-lazy afternoon; and then we went over to Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne’s
to join in on the Johnson family Christmas dinner. That was a crazy blast of fun – and we got to
do that without the work too; though the parents might think that we got the
worst of that deal because we did have to keep Zack entertained all evening. We still had fun; and got to play with Cassie
and Michael for a while too when they eventually made an appearance after
finishing with the dinner clean-up at the Bassetts and then having a bit of
Christmas fun with the adults in the house on their way up to the play room.
The Moms called an end to our fun by around
eleven o’clock; Mom and Dad took their teens and kids home; and Michael isn’t
staying tonight because he doesn’t want to wake Cassie early when he needs to
go to the Inn to work the Boxing Day breakfast buffet.I’m sure that Cassie is going to take that
alone time opportunity to do some work on her computer, but I’ve had enough fun
for today; so that’s all I have for tonight.

Ehlana:
Nice job with the recap, Ethan!
I’ve loved sharing May’s first Christmas
with her; and we really did get to have the best of both worlds today with a
combination of quieter holiday fun at home and then visiting the crazy,
big-family Christmas elsewhere – including while joining in on the Johnson clan
Christmas dinner.On the friends’ front;
I can report that Naomi especially loved her gifts from Ethan, and while she
had hugs and kisses for both of us; the versions she shared with Ethan were
definitely more-enthusiastic and not-quite kid-rated. ;^)
Moving along, we really liked the extra
time with Grandma and Grandpa this morning and at lunch; most of us ate way too
much today; and it’s a wonder that I didn’t sleep through the evening play time
and need to be carried – or rolled – home when it was time to leave.I’ve just finished up the bedtime girl chat
with Cassie and May; we had fun comparing notes for the parts of our day that
we didn’t spend together; and now I’m exhausted and ready to rest up so I can
be ready for yet another big shopping day with the post-Christmas sales and the
rest of the fun we’ll have tomorrow.
I’ll wrap this up with my wish that
everyone has had a Merry Christmas; and I hope that the rest of our holidays
will be just as amazing and happy as our Christmas has been once again this
year.

Happy Christmas Eve Day!Here’s a double dose of Christmas music for
you to enjoy – regardless of what time of year you’re reading this part of our
archive journals!
We’ve had an awesome day!Tai Chi and breakfast for seven was a great
way to start our morning; even the guys had fun with the shopping morning –
thanks to picking up bakery treats and hanging out in the ‘fun’ stores; and
then we had lots of holiday food and play time fun from lunchtime through
dinner before heading for the church and the Christmas Eve service. That play time was with Cassie, May, and the
cousins; and then we had some family Christmas fun with Grandma, Grandpa, and
the Carringtons for a mini gift exchange that we do on the ‘away’ Christmas
years since we can’t do that with Uncle Adam, Aunt Leanne, Zack, and Brianna on
Christmas Day while their busy with Uncle Adam’s side of the family. That was another blast of holiday fun; Ehlana
and I had to play normal kids after our guests headed for their homes and got
ready for bed and put out the Olde Bakery treats for Sana and the reindeer; Dad
did a bedtime Christmas story with us; and then we were sent to bed so that we
can be sleeping before Santa gets to our town.
We definitely don’t want to have any last
minute problems that could get us into trouble with Santa, so that’s all I have
for tonight; since I really need to get to sleep before it’s too late! ;^)

Ehlana:
The highlights of my Christmas Eve day
included Tai Chi and breakfast with Cassie, Michael, and May; all of the
shopping with the girls; the play time with our cousins; the church service and
Pastor John’s annual Christmas story message; and the gift exchange with our
aunt, uncle, and cousins.That’s pretty
much just repeating what Ethan’s already written about, but it isn’t the ‘what’
we’ve been doing that is so special – it’s the ‘who’ we’ve been doing
everything with.We’ve both really,
especially-loved getting to spend so much time with Cassie, Michael, and
May.We’ll get to play with them
tomorrow too, but we’ll also have to share them with Michael’s family too; so
we’ll likely be trading that for more time with Mom, Dad, Grandma, and Grandpa.
I do need to get to sleep before Santa gets
to town too, though, so that’s all for me tonight too; and I am out of here and
getting started on my short, Christmas Eve nap.
