Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - February 6, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Cassie and Michael have finished their final work day ahead of their birthday-to-Valentine’s Day vacation break.  We’re really happy that they are getting to enjoy some quality play time, and we might even have some reportable news from their adventures; since they do have a lot of sightseeing scheduled along with some lazy play time on beaches and in the waters next to those beaches.

Our day hasn’t been that kind of fun, but we had a good day at school; our four best friends came home with us for studying, a music practice, and a group Magi lesson with Mom.  They stayed for dinner and then we all went to the Inn for game night where Sophia and Aaron earned the junior title.  Aunt Leanne was extra-happy thanks to winning the senior title with Uncle Adam; and we will not be writing about how happy they might be by morning after their kids ‘escaped’ all of that happiness by spending the night with Faith or Eli after leaving the Inn.  Maybe we should work on that idea for our parents – or the Drapers or Seagers – for future Thursdays, but then we should probably not set things up for near-daily co-ed sleepovers quite yet – even if we would love that a lot! ;^)

That is pretty much all we have for our news; so let’s do a quick news report and then call it a night.  After taking some time to ponder President Trump’s plan for Gaza and the Palestinians, we still strongly dislike it – not to mention that the president is telling the truth about the goals to get rid of the Palestinians to gain access to the prime real estate and natural resources.  He’s said the same thing about Ukraine, with the biggest problems for that plan being that those rare earth minerals that he wants are inconveniently under Russian control.  Funny how that is the reverse of the situation in Syria where we still have control of the oil fields and prime agricultural lands that Trump is apparently going to hand over to the radical Islamists that our government helped to destroy and take over that country.  There are also new stories making the rounds with Ukraine demanding nuclear weapons for their security.  This is something that they’ve demanded several times over the past few years and it isn’t going to happen unless our world leaders really have collectively gone insane; so we’re really only mentioning it to note that there actually are politicians with no brains at all to even think that a good idea.  Closer to home, politics and theatre abound with the fights over new policies that are targeting government waste; illegal immigration; foreign aid programs; and more than we want to take the time to write about here.  While we have problems with some of the new plans – including that Gaza plan; we can get behind eliminating government waste and over-reach.  It remains to be seen whether serious cost-cutting happens, and there would need to be economic pain involved in cutting trillions in government spending until the private sector can rebalance, but that does need to happen and it would be better to try and control it before the inevitable happens through crisis or by force.

We’ve covered enough unhappiness for a night; so let’s wrap this up.  Thanks to the play time with our family and friends, our day has been a happy one; we are going to get back to those happy feelings while heading off to sleep; and hope that your ‘now’ is as-awesome!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
