Ethan and Ehlana:
This has been a pretty good day, but don’t have much news to offer. The academics part of our day was uneventful; the school band practice was all about a last run-through for the songs we’ll be playing on Friday at the seniors’ Valentine’s Day luncheon and party; and then we brought our four best friends home with us for dinner, a study session, music practice, and a group Magi lesson with Mom. We had a blast with all of that; added in a bit of co-ed cuddle time before our friends headed for their homes; and now we’re wrapping up our usual twin chat and bedtime computing.
If there is any news from home tonight, it is that we’re expecting some snow soon and through tomorrow afternoon. Fortunately, we’re on the edge of the weather system and will only get an inch or two of snow while other areas of the country will get a lot more, but that might require some shoveling and could slow down the buses for school. We’ll keep you posted on that story, but that snow does have us wishing that we were in Mexico with Cassie and Michael. Yes, we’ve mentioned that frequently and can come up with any excuse for a trip to somewhere warm in the winter; and no, we won’t be doing that this year.
Cassie and Michael are having a blast with their sightseeing; and today that included an archaeological tour that they knew more about than their guides thanks to the archives. Cassie also has fun with linguistics; since she also understands ancient languages and can read the carvings and writings – though she doesn’t share that talent with anyone around her for obvious reasons. That can be fun for them around so-called experts when those people actually have no clue what they’re talking about; so they enjoy that bonus entertainment when they come across it too.
Out there in the rest of the world, the non-stop talk and political drama rolls along, we’re still waiting to see more actual action dealing with the worst problems in the world. The war in Ukraine is still devastating the region while destroying the lives of thousands every day, and while there doesn’t seem to be any real progress to end it; our leaders are busy arguing over plastic or paper straws. Here’s an idea – don’t use straws if they’re so bad and focus on the real problems!
The western media doesn’t cover most of the stories from the Middle East because petty stories are meant to distract people from anything serious, but we keep up; and don’t like anything we’re seeing happen in Syria, Israel, or basically anywhere else in the region. There is a lot going on with the new administration, and we can get behind the idea of cleaning up the government and eliminating waste, but thanks to the in-fighting; it isn’t clear that the changes being demanded are actually going to happen as the battles hit the courts and get bogged down. We’re not suggesting that the solutions needed are easy because they aren’t, but talk without action is meaningless to everyone suffering in war zones and through other horrors.
That’s enough for tonight. Ehlana and I want to be happy; we’ll share love and joy where we can; and continue to hope for better everywhere we don’t have the power to help or change anything. While many people can’t relate to that point of view; let’s also mention that Magi Masters of the Light need to keep love and happiness in our hearts; since harsher emotions could lead us to be like the Hathornes and the other Dark Magi. We’re really taking this update where we don’t want to go, so that’s all for tonight. We hope that your day is a good one; and now we’re going to end ours and get some sleep.
