Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - May 18, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 5th Anniversary, Garrett and Jen Wingborough!

We’re getting cleaned up from our chores morning and are moving on to lunch next, but instead of trying to offer an incomplete report from yesterday; we’re going to defer again until tomorrow – and yes, we do remember that we’ve previously suggested that we want to avoid triple updates.  Getting some food and then going for a canoe ride with family and friends is going to be more-fun, and we will survive the extra typing sometime tomorrow night; so we’re just going to move on.  In addition to the canoeing, we’re going to have another major camping night while enjoying the great weather, and since we had a blast last night; we’re hoping for more of the same tonight.  We might not get much sleep, but since self-healing from fatigue is an option; we’ll be okay too – even if that might not be true for our non-Magi friends!

We really do want to get back to the fun, so that’s all; and we’re out of here!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - May 17, 2024

Ehlana:

Ethan is busy and I’m taking a moment for this placeholder update that is really just for the record because we’re too-busy for any major computer play time today – and will be for the rest of the day.  The weather is awesome and looking good for the weekend; we’re already pretty much ready for a camping night or weekend with our friends; and we’re about to start the family-and-friends’ barbeque dinner now so I really need to get back to the fun.  Thank Zack and some of the other boys for this much of a report, since I needed to get changed, but I can write about that in our next report too; really don’t want to miss out on any of the fun; and am totally out of here! ;^)

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - May 16, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 11th Birthday, Rebekkah Burroughs!

Happy 4th Anniversary, Reid and Lily Spencer!

We had a lot of fun last night with Cassie, Michael, and our four best friends; and those adventures included a pasta-and-sides dinner, ‘live’ music, video gaming, and movies.  Staying up too-late on a school night wasn’t officially part of the plan, but we enjoyed the late night cuddling and chat time.  Cassie led us in a group Magi lesson too, but that was also more about having fun than the learning that was all about working together in a group and sharing both power and multi-tasking.  The co-ed sofa sleepover part of our night was pretty good too; and we were also able to share some fatigue healing this morning ahead of our Tai Chi workout.

That workout and a hot breakfast wrapped up our play time with Cassie and Michael; we headed for school and a quiet day of academic fun; and then another semi-damp weather day led to our choice to work-play at the lab or archives after being set free from our last class.  Ethan and I did a snack and visit with Mom before moving on to the lab, but our parents apparently didn’t have any fun while she was in the city with him except for a dinner with the Malloys and a bit of supply shopping for Mom.  Yeah, we didn’t believe that either, but let’s pretend that we did! ;^)

Ethan and I had fun at the lab with our books or beakers; Mom had a snack-dinner ready for us when we got home; and we didn’t have much time to eat and clean up before we needed to get to the Inn for game night.  Yes, Mom and Miranda won the senior title as usual on the weeks they team up while Dad is in Crystal Springs; so they were happy by the time we headed home.  Silkie’s bedtime walk was multi-tasked with walking Naomi and Aiden to their homes; Mom decided that we didn’t need to do any work or a Magi lesson tonight; and bath or Jacuzzi time was next on our to-do lists once we were home again with Silkie.  That’s pretty much all of our hometown news, but before we wrap this up; let’s add in a world news report.

Solar flares and storms have gotten a fair bit of attention over the past week, and we would never take those risks lightly, so our only comment on those stories is to point out that our society is at higher risks from the sun thanks to our technology; and the minor disruptions we’ve had in tech systems from those solar storms are noteworthy and we collectively should learn from what has happened and work to be ready for when we do eventually face more-serious solar weather that could cause serious damage to our tech systems.  We didn’t mention it earlier, but we got to see some pretty cool northern lights around here too, but that’s different for Magi compared to normal people because our talents allow us to sense more about that sort of thing and we ‘see’ our skies and atmosphere with more than our eyesight.

Moving along, the war problems continue and aren’t getting any better in Ukraine or Israel; and we really wish that someone in power would step up and put an end to all of the death and destruction that is so pointless and only benefits a few greedy, unethical people.  An assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia is a new story this week, and earned our attention because of the reaction to it from western leaders and media that has entirely been because the Prime Minister is supposedly on the wrong side of the Ukraine war due to his opposition to funding Ukraine and for calling for peace instead.  ‘Our’ side is definitely in the wrong if we believe that an acceptable answer to supporting peace over war is grounds for killing the messengers!

I’d better stop now before I get into a full-blown rant, but also need to mention that western countries are on the fast-track to more trouble in the world with growing threats being made against China and any other country that dares to have trade relationships with Russia, Iran, or other countries that we deem to be enemies.  Economic sanctions are a form of warfare, and choosing that path against any country is usually wrong; and against a country like China is incredibly-stupid, short-sighted, and dangerous.

Stop ranting now, Ehlana!

I’m down to writing orders to myself, so it is obviously time to get some sleep – starting right now!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - May 15, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’re in transition between school and the rest of our day and need to get going again soon; so this is a micro-update.  Tai Chi and breakfast with Mom made for a happy start to our day; our academic adventures were fun but not newsworthy.  We’re getting some wet weather again today, and it looks as though most of all of the ball practices will be canceled; so we’re expecting to be spending the rest of the day indoors – at Cassie and Michael’s house.  Naomi, Aiden, Sophia, and Aaron will be with us and we’ll be there because Mom is in the city for the night; so we’re expecting to have an awesome night with them!

We also need to grab our gear and head over there – Silkie was already dropped off when Mom headed for Crystal Springs; so the rest of our story can wait for our next update.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - May 14, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 40th Birthday, Uncle Mark!

We’ve had a good day, and we tried to help out a bit when we could for Uncle Mark’s special day, but baseball practices went ahead as normal; his birthday dinner was also a Pizzeria pizza picnic dinner around our baseball fun; and we weren’t in on his kid-free night for obvious reasons!

Our academic adventures didn’t include anything newsworthy, and while it remained cooler today with a dash or three of rain; that didn’t get in the way of any of our outdoor adventures – starting with Tai Chi by the river to play time at school to our ball practices and picnic dinner.  There were gifts for Uncle Mark to open and Faith and Caleb are with Brianna and Sebastian respectively for the night, but we were on our own when we came home with Mom from the park.  We did some family business and charity work and a Magi lesson after that; bath or Jacuzzi time followed that; and now we’re ready to wrap this up and get some sleep.  Doing that now is an option; so we’re out of here and back to the ‘real’ world!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
