Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - May 20, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

The top story of the day is that Rowen and Tim took official possession of their new home today and they have started moving in with lots of help from family and friends.  They also still have work to deal with – especially for Rowen as the computer store gears up for the holiday weekend and summer sales season.  That’s true for most of their volunteer moving crew, but that mostly just means that they are taking turns and taking their time too, since they only have the goal of getting Rowen and Tim’s apartment emptied ahead of schedule so that the new, college-grad tenants can move in ahead of the holiday weekend too.  That plan is on-schedule as of now; and we did our part to help too.

Ethan and I had Naomi and Aiden helping us after school, and while we took turns with hauling boxes and furniture; we ended up doing more with next-gen kids in the back yards when their parents stopped by to help or even just to offer their support and best wishes.  Okay, there were visitors interested in a first look at the new house now that it is finished, but the support was genuine anyway even if it might not have been the personal priority for some! ;^)

Cassie and Michael hosted dinner for the work crew and anyone else that happened to be there too; we helped with that work too for both the set-up and clean-up.  We missed out on Faith’s ball practice, but then we won’t be at all practices anymore anyway – especially now that we’re going to be busy with the addition of weekend ballgames starting in just a couple of weeks.  That meal was a buffet-style, eat when you can offering, but the work next door only slowed down and didn’t stop entirely because Rowen has opted to set up rooms and unpack as they go along instead of just hauling everything over and leaving a mess to deal with after that.

As for the rest of our day, Ethan and I had fun with the quieter Tai Chi by the river with Mom and Dad; breakfast was standard school day fare; and then our academic adventures were fun and not newsworthy.  We had a short thunderstorm move through town this afternoon before being set free from school, but that didn’t last long, and didn’t even mess up the baseball practices with too-wet fields.  The work at Rowen and Tim’s wrapped up before dark, but that was mostly because of work day issues and being on that schedule and not falling behind.  That worked for us, since we came home and did a bit of work in the office and a Magi lesson with Mom before coming upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time.

We’re cleaned up and ready to call it a night, but before we do that, we should at least mention some world news.  One of the top stories is that the President of Iran and other top officials were killed in a helicopter crash.  Few details are out so far, but call us suspicious – especially when there is also news out there about a possible coup attempt against the President of Turkey.  We won’t be initiating any conspiracy theories here; and maybe our future readers will know better than we do now; so let’s just move on.

The ongoing wars are still ugly and not improving at all; there does not seem to be any serious efforts toward peace; and ‘western’ leaders seem very intent on confrontation and escalation.  Natural disaster problems continue in various places around the world; and we are blessed to live somewhere that rarely has to deal with anything more-serious than the rare blizzard or major summer storm.  We have our ancestors to thank for the choice of our home town; they did well; and we really love it here – even when we might occasionally wish that they’d picked a nice tropical island for us instead! ;^)

Okay, we really need to call it a night; so that’s all for this report and we’re off to nap time right now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
