Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our favorite people!
The top local news of the day began early this morning at breakfast when Dad ‘surprised’ Mom with a long weekend getaway to Crystal Springs that they headed out on when we left for school. We will not want most of the details, but can report that Mom and Dad have plans with the Malloys and other friends between now and Sunday; so they will be doing more than hiding away in their hotel suite! We also did a vid-chat with Cassie and Michael; and they are having a beach and water day for the final day of their vacation before they get back to work tomorrow and through until the end of their trip.
Compared to those stories, our day hasn’t been very romantic – and won’t be for the rest of the day either. We had a lot of fun at school; Ehlana and Naomi and Sophia assure their favorite guys that we’ve done well-enough with Valentine gifts and treats that included jewelry, flowers, chocolates, and bakery treats. The seniors’ luncheon and party at the church fellowship hall was our entertainment highlight of the day, and while the school band music was fun; Naomi and the Holiday Harmonies were the big hit with our ballads and one dance tune with all songs appropriate for some of our favorite grandparents. We barely had time to get our gear back to the school and put away in the music room before we were set free for the day; and that pretty much brings us up to now.
Ehlana and I are only home to grab our weekend luggage and Silkie; and then we’ll be heading over to the Carringtons for the rest of the day because we’re booked to babysit a gang of kids while the parents go out for Valentine’s Day dinner and a party at the pub. Naomi and Aiden are booked to help with that job, and Aiden and I still have some plans for our favorite girls that will hopefully offset the babysitting challenges, but we’ll let you know how that goes for us with the next report. Sophia and Aaron are babysitting tonight too, but they are doing that at her house and are taking care of Bassett clan next-gen cousins and other friends.
For the record, no, we don’t need the money or the jobs, but we are happy to help favorite adults tonight; and we’ll have future opportunities to go out and celebrate – especially once some of our younger cousins hit their tweens and can take over the babysitting duties with the next-gen kids. Thinking about that when Zack and Eli will be among the next tweens is scary, but then we don’t actually expect them to do any babysitting – unless they actually get girlfriends and get drafted for babysitting with them!
Moving along, that’s pretty much all we have for this report. Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne are going out tonight too, but they will also be stuck with a house full of kids and teens overnight while most of the other parents get a kid-free break. Ehlana and I will be with Naomi and Aiden through until Monday morning while Mom and Dad are away; and we’ll keep you posted on where we’ll be staying each night once we decide on that part of our weekend plan. We really need to get going now, so stay tuned for those stories; and we’ll get back to living those adventures that we’ll write about over the next few days!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
