Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 19, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 32nd Birthday, Isabelle Jennings!

We’re about to have a gang of friends and some cousins drop in on us; so we need to speed this update along while also needing to cover some news of the day too.  Sophia’s hosted camping night grew quite a bit by the time we got around to the campfire part of the night, but even with the extra friends and cousins; we still went with our co-ed camping for six of us; and there might have been another couple or three in other tents too.  We helped Sophia’s Mom with the barbeque dinner and the clean-up; the campfire with our live music was the entertainment highlight; and we stayed up fairly-late too before getting around to the co-ed camping night.

Before we move on with our own story, while we worked on dinner and while we ate, we watched the SpaceX Dragon Crew-9 splashdown near the gulf coast of Florida.  That mission returned the two Boeing astronauts that had been stranded on the international space station since last June; so it was a big story.  A side-story, though, has been getting some attention because SpaceX apparently offered to bring them back when Crew-9 was delivered to the station last September, but President Biden declined the offer and left them up there.  Since that was during the run-up to the election last fall; that was obviously a political play and disgusting to us.  While we’re on the world stories, let’s move on to the next big story – the release of more than eighty-thousand JFK documents that so far seems to be another nothingburger.  That’s enough to raise suspicion; since there doesn’t seem to be anything in there serious-enough to require being classified for more than sixty years – or at all.  Finally, Presidents Trump and Putin had a teleconference call today, and only managed to tentatively agree to a thirty-day ceasefire only for bombing energy infrastructure.  That will have nearly-zero impact on the people dying every day on both sides, and might be pointless; since the peace demands on each side are polar opposites and unlikely to go anywhere.  Ehlana and I think that the two remaining options are to stop supporting Ukraine and leave them to surrender to Russia or expand the war and risk nuclear exchanges; since Russia will not back down regardless of western ‘expert’ opinions.

Okay, we are seriously running out of time; so let’s speed this up.  After some co-ed nap time; we enjoyed Tai Chi by the river; breakfast was an adventure with all of the campers; and then we packed up the tents and gear ahead of the expected rain and cool-down this afternoon.  Ehlana and I got done in time for a visit to the lab where we also dropped off a gift for Andrew to take to Isabelle; and we stayed there until meeting up with Mom for lunch.  She had a stop to drop off food with Aunt Leanne, but we went with soup and mini-subs for our meal; and now we’ve been getting the third floor ready for our guests.  We’re also going to keep our five best friends for another sleepover; so we’re putting our computers away now and won’t be using them again until sometime tomorrow.  Stay tuned for the next report while we get on with living those stories!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
