Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 12, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Today has really felt like a repeat of Monday.  Tai Chi was by the river again, so we loved that; and then we had another school day that included more testing and wrapping up assignments and projects – including class presentations for one of those projects that will continue for our classmates through the end of the week.  The weather high for today topped seventy, so we biked the trails with our friends until dinnertime after being set free from school.  Some of our favorite trails in the woods at the park are still too-soft to ride, but the main trails are in pretty good shape; and there have even been work crews out already doing repairs and grooming after winter damage.

While the biking and play time with our friends was the entertainment highlight of our day; we also feel really good about the work we did at the lab tonight.  Dinner with Mom and Dad was great and we took care of the clean-up before going to the lab; and then Ehlana wins for best work night for two successful experiments that further her cancer cures research.  I won’t bore you with the details, but there are a lot of complex factors that need to be dealt with for each type of cancer; so to make it simple; Ehlana is designing custom cures for every type of cancer to ensure that there won’t be any serious health risks to her cures.  Compared to that, my archives work will not change the world, but I love my part-time job; and am happy to be working toward making our archives usable for our fellow Magi so that we can all become more than has been possible for decades or even centuries for Magi of the Light.

Ehlana and I worked until around eleven o’clock again for the third night in a row; we had another chat with Mom and Dad before coming upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time; and now we’re winding down with our twin chat and computer checks.  On the world and political news front, we’re holding back a bit on some stories because time is needed for the nonsense to shake out before we can know whether the rhetoric has any chance of becoming action – whether for better or worse.  One of the current stories is about a temporary ceasefire for the Ukraine war, but while peace was supposedly being discussed between a Ukraine delegation and the U.S. in Saudi Arabia; the Ukrainian army was hitting civilian targets in Russia with hundreds of drones and the frontlines fighting is intensifying on both sides.  As usual, it seems as though diplomacy isn’t leading to an end to the horrors on the ground for normal people.  There was some slightly-better news on the trade wars front as politicians in Canada and our country backed off from another escalation over electricity costs to us and steel, aluminum, and automotive tariffs on those industries for them.  Serious negotiations are still required, but at least for now, we’re not on the verge of seriously damaging both economies over political power plays.  Tariffs are affecting the business world too; and we don’t like the stories coming out about American companies attempting to bully suppliers in China and elsewhere into eating the new tariff costs.  It makes no sense to us at all to on one hand complain about work conditions and pay for employees in other countries being terrible while on the other hand trying to make it impossible for those conditions to improve by sharing more of the overall profits with those companies and their workers!  We’ll take a wild guess that those business managers and owners won’t also take a cut in pay or stock value or dividends; and our political leaders definitely wouldn’t agree to a twenty or fifty percent pay cut!  While we’re on that topic, our family businesses aren’t seriously impacted by most of the trade war nonsense – mostly because Mom has worked hard with her new help over the past fifteen years to build companies that are self-sufficient within each country.  Yes, we have significant international trade too, but our balance between each country and collectively is usually equal and equitable for everyone involved.

Moving along, that’s pretty much all we have for tonight.  We still have two more school days before the spring break, but we’re done with the after-school or evening work for the week; and we’re going to have fun with our family and friends as we head into the weekend.  It is late and we won’t get back to full-power without some fatigue healing in the morning; but we can nap first and do whatever is needed in the morning; so that’s it for this report and we are out of here and off to dreamland soon.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
