Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 16, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

We’re taking a sleepover break tonight, but that’s mostly because we’ll be up early for Dad’s trip to Crystal Springs; and thought that our friends would prefer the extra sleep in their own beds!  As for our adventures since the last update; we had a lot of fun at Aiden’s house from making dinner with our best friends to enjoying that meal with them and with Aiden’s parents, sister, and Leah.  We played board games for a while after the clean-up; watched a movie with everyone; and eventually wrapped up the night with a co-ed sofa sleepover in the family room for the three teen couples in the house.

It was too-cold for Tai Chi by the river this morning, so that workout was indoors; we helped with the work before and after breakfast too; and then we had a quiet rest of the morning at church for the service and basically a play time at Sunday school while there were kids and teens away for the spring break.  Aiden’s parents needed to be at the bakery after church, so Naomi’s parents fed four of us for lunch while Sophia and Aaron had other plans with their families; we had a biking and play afternoon with cousins and friends – though the high today only neared the mid-fifties.  Dad needed to work today to get ready for his trip, and Anna Marie worked with him for a couple of hours too in addition to her own preparations; so being kid-free helped Mom and Dad – and allowed them to take the rest of the day off by late afternoon.

That was another reason for us to come home alone by then; since we won’t see Dad for the next five days.  Ehlana and I helped with making dinner; we enjoyed the meal; and took care of the clean-up.  Mom did a Magi lesson with us, but that was just for fun – as was the live music play time and the movie that we watched in the lounge.  Bath or Jacuzzi time followed the movie and a round of goodnight hugs and kisses; and now Ehlana and I are getting ready to sleep soon and have kept our bedtime chat and computing shorter than usual.  Atrocities around the world continue to be horrific and getting worse in some places.  Peace is still being talked about with no results on the ground anywhere, and yet on the other hand; fighting is escalating elsewhere.  Yemen is being bombed again; Syria continues to be torn apart by the ‘good’ terrorists while the ‘bad’ terrorists next door in Iraq are being killed – probably because they stopped doing what our leaders told them to do.  Economic tariff wars are still heating up and prepping for an April second deadline for our country to match all tariffs applied against our products and businesses by any other country.  The delay is supposedly to allow those countries to lift their tariffs and other trade restrictions, but that isn’t going to happen; and we have no idea whether this will lead to negotiations or a major shift in international trade.

Political theatre rolled on through the weekend – but only because congress avoided yet another dreaded shut-down by approving a funding bill to keep the lights on until the end of the current fiscal year.  Honestly, we’d have enjoyed actually getting that shut-down, since if non-essential government workers all needed to go home until a sensible budget was put together; the improvements that would come with keeping them from messing up our country would be worth the economic challenges!  Unfortunately, though, this last round of theatre ended the same as most government finance fights – with everyone losing as debts continue to pile up at ever-higher numbers.

News flash for those politicians – we don’t actually seriously start to fix our debt crisis until we stop increasing the debt; and that really would still be the start to get to that point!  Nobody actually seems to be offering a plan to get to that start point; and there might not be anyone who believes that we’ll ever pay down thirty-six trillion dollars of debt at all or ever.

Now that we have all of that covered, it is time to wrap this up and move on to nap time.  The rest of the world may be in serious need of common sense and love to be saved, we’ll continue to be grateful for our amazing little piece of the planet; and take all of the personal love and joy along with us into dreamland.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
