Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 4th Birthday, Rochelle Ryan!
Our Johnson clan cousin has had a happy day – according to the reports we got from Aunt Leanne and Brianna, but we didn’t have any involvement in her special day beyond the joint gift that was sent to her along with others that Josiah and Christina took with them for the visit with her sister’s family.
Here at home, we had a fairly-quiet day. Sure, we had extra exercise and breakfast buddies after the co-ed sleepover with our four best friends, but then we had a happy couple of hours at church with the service and Sunday school before going home with just Mom and Dad while our friends moved on to other plans with their own families. We had an easy lunch for four; Ehlana and I went to play at the lab or archives for the afternoon; and then we were home again in time for dinner – and the work needed on both sides of that meal.
Mom didn’t want us up late again tonight on a school night, so we only worked in the office and did a Magi lesson with her until eight-thirty. We got a lot done thanks to a time phase, but then it was bath or Jacuzzi time; and now we’re winding down with the usual bedtime twin chat and computing. While we don’t really care much about college football, we’ve kept up-to-date on the news that will be important for a lot of the high school guys and some of our friends too. It is a safe bet that the new playoffs format will get a lot of attention thanks to the semi-final games from the end of last week that has the bottom two teams from the to—eight advancing to the championship game on the twentieth. That result does seem to validate the changes, but time will tell whether the new format will be financially-successful for college football. I don’t plan on playing football beyond what will be required of me in high school; so let’s leave it to others to ponder the issues and move on.
In national news, the California wildfires continue to get a lot of attention, and while we’ve kept up with the stories; our charities are only helping where actually needed; and our sympathies are targeted too; since we really have a tough time reconciling government responses to these fires compares to lack of help for the truly-needy in recent disasters like the Hurricanes and the wildfires in Hawaii. The other top story from the weekend was President-elect Trump’s sentencing on one of the New York cases; with a fine and no other consequences basically proving that the entire case was politically-motivated with the only true goal being to hang the convicted felon title on the incoming leader of our country – a banana republic worthy embarrassment that makes a mockery of our judicial system.
For world news, more sanctions are being dumped on Russia and any other country or corporation doing business with them – all in an attempt to impede any diplomacy that might be possible with the incoming administration. History proves that economic warfare leads to real wars; so we can only watch on in dismay as our world leaders continue to pile on idiotic mistakes to the pile that is leading us to a horrific outcome if changes don’t come soon. Regardless of the western spin, the war is not going well for Ukraine and the country is being destroyed while thousands die every week. Syria joins the ranks of countries that have been decimated thanks to western policies; and we have no way of knowing when what we’ve sown with our drive for global domination will come back to bite us.
Changes do appear to be on the way starting a week from tomorrow, but whether that will be for good or ill remains to be seen – if anything important changes at all. The coming weeks and months are likely to be eventful regardless of what our new President tries to do; so stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted on what will be your history by the time you get around to reading our journals.
Cassie and Michael have finished up their week in Panama and will be moving on to Costa Rica early Monday morning. We haven’t written much about their work so far on this trip – mostly because it has been uneventful compared to their last trip across northern Africa. We’re glad of that; and they are getting to spend more time actually enjoying the places they are visiting even with all of the work. They are making new friends and building relationships with local businesses and charities; and Cassie is also having a lot of fun with local languages – especially when it comes to tribal languages that have survived despite European efforts to eradicate local history and culture.
That definitely isn’t something we should get into a rant about tonight; since those are stories that could be applied to most or all conquering civilizations throughout history. It is time for us to call it a night and get some sleep; so that’s all for this report.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
