Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 11, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 24th Birthday, Gretchen Johnson!

We missed most of Gretchen’s special day while on our snowboarding adventure, and Cassie and Michael couldn’t help out beyond leaving a gift for her with Rowen and Tim; so we’ll hope that she’s had an awesome day – especially since we definitely have had a blast!

Our Friday night was great too, and while we did some work around dinnertime too and had some annoyances from Zack, Eli, and some of the other guys until they headed over to the Carringtons for the night; we also loved the co-ed time with our four best friends; some music play time; and a movie before we got around to the co-ed nap time we needed ahead of the early wake-up call for the trip to Blue Ridge.  Ehlana and I helped with the morning prep for the trip – including getting coffee ready for our parents and some other drivers to go along with the bakery treats we took along for the start of the drive.  We stopped for breakfast along the way too; and stopped for that break instead of going with fast food to go.  Our collective parents and drivers still managed to get us to Blue Ridge by opening – though not everyone had their own gear; so only a handful of us could hit the slopes as soon as we had our lift tickets while the rest of our gang needed to be fitted with gear for skiing or snowboarding first.

Cassie and Michael probably didn’t really miss being away for this snow play day, since they had some sightseeing planned in addition to a morning meeting, but then we might have a tough time feeling left out when the weather in Panama is summer-hot and they’ve enjoyed a high that hit triple-digits.  We are happy with the winter fun instead, and now that we’re teens; we also get to push the tricks limits more than we could when younger.  Ehlana and Naomi love getting to show off the way Cassie and Rowen did in past years, but then we love the co-ed pairings too – and yes, that is partly because hugs and kisses are involved in the fun!

No, that doesn’t mean mid-air hugs and kisses as part of the tricks – though that would be awesome if we could get away with it! ;^)

Moving along, we all had an amazing day, and then the parents chose to call it a day a bit early due to some minor weather rolling into the area that included some ice pellets.  We stayed ahead of the ice and snow even with a stop for dinner-to-go and gas in Crystal Springs, and while we won’t get much here at home; we’re glad to be back and the trip went faster than it would have if we’d had to slow down for icy roads.  Ehlana and I are still hosting our four best friends for the rest of the night as planned; and we just have more time for hanging out together before we crash and nap.  Ehlana and I are writing this while our friends are taking turns hitting the showers or Jacuzzi, and we need to move on now; so that’s all for this report.  We’ve had an amazing day; loved sharing everything with so many of our favorite people; and we’ll continue to enjoy the quieter time with our friends until we do get around to those co-ed naps!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
