Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - July 7, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 12th Anniversary, Amy and Jared Spencer!

We had a gift and best wishes for one of our favorite teachers and her husband that we delivered before church today, but that was all we had to do with their special day.  Their family and friends took care of the rest of the work for their celebration – including a kid-free night.

Our day has – so far – ended up being strongly-affected by the rain and thunderstorms that have rolled through town and continue as we write this afternoon update.  That made for a damp end to our camping that happened because the first spits of rain arrived earlier than forecast by a couple of hours.  Since we got up for Tai Chi as early as usual, we managed to get some of the tents packed up before they got wet, but then we also skipped the workout to make that possible and then breakfast was indoors and a bit crowded with all of the extra campers and weekend guests.  Ethan and I took a small group home with us for bathroom time while getting ready for church; and then the teen-led service was awesome and brought a lot of joy and happiness to everyone involved.  Thanks to the rain, we dashed between places after the service, and that included helping out with some early packing for guests before we headed to the Inn for the first buffet of the day at noon.  We were on kid control for that meal and had a lot of fun, but we also sometimes miss getting to hang out with the adults.  We are going to get to spend some quality time with Cassie and Michael for the rest of the day and overnight, though, and while we’ll be sharing them with the rest of the teens they’ve invited for the night; we are going to have a blast and we’re happy to share Cassie and Michael with our friends and cousin.  Jayden and Susan will be with us too, and while most of our weekend guests have headed out already because of the rain and storms; Jayden and his parents are staying at their cottage for another week before his Dad will need to get back to work again.  We’ve finished seeing everyone off and helped Mom with some chores around the house; and now we’re packed and ready to head over to Cassie and Michael’s house.

We should probably add that we had fun last night from dinnertime through the outdoor movies and on to the camping nap time we eventually got around to having after sitting up late and talking by the river while some of our younger cousins got to sleep by a bit after midnight.  The movies were kid-rated and chosen, so they only thought that the co-ed cuddling was scary, but we’ll keep any scarier movies indoors anyway; since at least some of our neighbors probably wouldn’t appreciate the sights and sounds that go along with monster movies! ;^)

Okay, that might lead us to pick at least one scary movie for later tonight now that we’re thinking about it, but the rest of our stories can wait for our next update, and we need to go meet up with our friends soon; so that’s all for this final holiday weekend report!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
