Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 4th Anniversary, Kyle and Erin Landry!
We’re actually home and without overnight guests tonight; so let’s get right to a double update.
Aunt Leanne’s birthday breakfast buffet at the Inn was awesome, and while we were on kid control for most of it and Ethan had to leave early for his weight training; we did our part to help our aunt out with a happy start to her day. While she went on to a play day in Crystal Springs with Uncle Adam, Mom, Dad, and others that included shopping, a couple of great meals, and a theatre show to go along with the five-star hotel sleepover that we do not want any details from and won’t be writing about in any way! Our academic adventures were pretty good; the babysitting was occasionally Halloween-scary thanks to Zack and the other guys; and we ended up with a small gang of kids staying for the night while the parents were away because we’re big softies and let our cousins and their friends pretend that they were partying while the parents were away. Dinner was messy, but easy with Pizzeria pizza and snack sides; and it was only the food games that got messy thanks again to the boys. Video gaming ruled the play room on the third floor; Halloween movies were kid-rated or musical or both in the living room; and you don’t need to guess at which room needed more work after the kids went to bed and we had to deal with the clean-up. The teen babysitters in the house opted for co-ed sofa sleepovers in the living room on the pretense that we were guarding against escapees, and we weren’t serious; since by then we’d have been happy to have at least a few of the boys run away! ;^)
We were still awake on time this morning for Tai Chi by the river; had extra exercise buddies; and then we also had parental support for cooking breakfast for the gang of kids – including the Everetts, Naomi’s parents, and Aiden’s Mom. Naomi and I stayed for the clean-up because Ethan and Aiden needed to be at the school again; and we were in charge of making sure that all of the kids got to school on-time. We had a good day at school; work-played at the lab or archives after school; and then we had an easy-dinner with Mom while catching up on her news of the past two days – and ours in return. Game night at the Inn was the entertainment highlight of the day; Mom and Miranda won the senior title as usual; and Naomi led Ethan to the junior title win too – possibly because they were the least-tired kids or teens in the room.
After coming home with Mom, we did a Magi lesson and some charity work; and now we’re winding down toward nap time with the usual twin chat and bedtime computing. World news is still awful; election politics is getting crazier the closer we get to the election that won’t change anything regardless of the winner; and we’re only going to be prepared for anything that might follow – though we don’t expect any local problems even if half of the people in our country aren’t happy with the election outcome.
We haven’t done a Cassie and Michael update, and that’s a happier place to go; so let’s do that now. They arrived in Egypt without any major travel issues, and while they are focused on work most of the time; they are also fitting in cameo sightseeing along the way – and wish they had time for more in such a history-rich country! They’ve spent the first few days in and around Cairo; and they’ll be wrapping up their week with stops along the way as they head south to a total of three towns or cities and six site locations for projects that we’re either funding or partnering on that are all geared toward growing local businesses and communities. Visiting an ancient history site or three along the way will be amazing too; and we wish that we could be there too – even though some of the places they’ll be visiting while in Africa will be moderately-dangerous for Cassie and Michael and might be worse for young teens. That isn’t a happy thought, though, and we can report that Cassie and Michael haven’t had any trouble so far beyond the attention that Cassie gets because she is so-strikingly beautiful and can’t hide that behind even modest clothing. Yes, there have been jokes about Michael coming home without Cassie and with a small zoo worth of animals, but that isn’t going to happen; and the bad guys in any of those countries they’ll be visiting better leave them alone; since messing with Cassie and Michael would end badly for them.
Okay, that’s enough for tonight. We’ve had a long few days in a row and need to re-charge now; so we’re out of here and off to dreamland.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
