Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 1, 2024

Ehlana, Ethan, Naomi, and Aiden:

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Marc and Gretchen!

Cassie and Michael have helped their friends with another dinner party today, but we didn’t have anything to do with this celebration.  That wasn’t true for Uncle Nick’s birthday, since we did a lot of work before and after that meal; kept busy the rest of the time with kid control of some of our next-gen cousins and other kids; and managed to have some fun along the way too – including all of the usual birthday fun that happened around dinner and the birthday cakes desserts.  The party rolled on into the evening, but it was a school night; so we moved on by around eight-thirty.

By then, Naomi and I had decided that we needed a girls’ night, so I packed an overnight bag and went home with her; we had fun; didn’t have any trouble with Eli; and did include Liz in our bedtime girl chat entertainment.  While we were busy with that; Aiden was still with Ethan for the night; they apparently played video games for a while; and then they went to bed earlier than we did – a definite change from the norm!

We didn’t get together for Tai Chi this morning, but then the guys still headed to the school early for their weight training with the football team; so we wouldn’t have been together for the walk to school anyway.  Our academic adventures were good today, but not newsworthy.  Naomi had her usual noon cheer squad practice for Tuesdays; and then our band practice after school was a highlight of our day as we continued to work on Halloween-themed songs that we’ll be performing at the Haunted Walk and the seniors’ party.  We should mention that we’ve been recruited again for our band to play a set at the Haunted Walk too, so we’ll need to fit in some practices, but as of now; we won’t be playing at the school dance.

After our practice, we came home; helped Mom with making dinner; and enjoyed that meal with Mom and Dad.  The teens in the house took care of the clean-up; we dealt with our homework; and then Mom did a group Magi lesson with us before we moved into the office to do some charity work.  The mess left behind after the hurricane has been extensive and worse than expected – especially in inland communities that have been devastated by flooding; so we’re continuing to offer aid where we can.  There are also new problems in the Middle East as Israel is escalating the fighting in the region and has invaded Lebanon.  It is more-difficult to send aid into war zones, but we also need to do what we can to protect partners in the region where possible; and position aid to send in once the fighting subsides.  We are not going to rant on how insane our world leaders are to allow these wars to continue and get worse for everyone involved; and we think that it is much-worse that most of the current conflicts are happening because ‘our’ side instigated and incited them.

This is our last night hosting Aiden before his parents will be home tomorrow, but since the four of us have really loved the extra co-ed time; we’ll see what we can do about having more of them in the near-future – whether here or at other homes.  Maybe we can talk other parents into going on vacations! ;^)

That’s all for this report, and while we’re not ready to go to sleep now; we are ready to turn off our computers and wind down toward our co-ed nap time with some quality cuddle time and maybe a movie.  Our first day of October has been great; and we hope that’ll be true for the rest of the month – even if we won’t get to have daily co-ed sleepovers!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
