Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 15, 2025

Naomi, Ethan, Ehlana, and Aiden:

I have taken over this update from Ethan and Ehlana; and we’re only all in on it because Ethan and I are also doing a vid-chat with Ehlana and Aiden.  We’re doing our separate co-ed sleepovers because my future mother-in-law is in Crystal Springs for the night.  I’m doing the writing because Ethan is busy with his contributions to our cuddling; and we are not going to waste time with any world or political news – though we have talked about some of the top stories tonight because two of our best friends are their parents’ kids and can’t help but care about, well, everyone in the world!

My morning was pretty good, and since my friends don’t mention it very often; I do keep up with my Tai Chi workouts most days – though doing that solo isn’t as much fun as it is when I can exercise with my friends.  Breakfast with Mom, Dad, and Eli probably wasn’t as-interesting as the morning meal that Ethan and Ehlana had with their Mom ahead of her trip, but then I also didn’t need to pack an overnight bag either while getting ready for school.  Mom and I did have a bit of hair play time, and while some of my friends are a bit jealous that I have an expert stylist of my very own at home; we usually just do that for fun – and don’t have time to play every morning.

Our school day was pretty good, but since future readers of this journal don’t usually get my Grade Nine perspective; I’ll add that I love the more-challenging classes and the variety, and while I’m sure we’d all have more fun if we were all in the same grade; I manage to muddle through and have fun anyway.  Since my class doesn’t have any major trips this year, we don’t have that to get ready for, but then we also aren’t spending extra time on politics, history, and everything else that we got taught in Grade Eight while prepping for our trip to Washington.  That has had some of us talking about the need for another band trip to Disney, but there are parents and teachers with strong memories about how much work went into the last trip; so we may have some issues to deal with – not to mention that timing will be an issue too.  Cassie and her friends spent a couple of years putting their band trip together, so we could have problems with older or younger students that could miss out on any trip like that one by a year or two depending on what we might do.

For the record, yes, that is trivial compared to every important news story, but I’m a teen; and don’t have a problem with writing about local teen issues!  I won’t scare the boys with teen and tween drama stories, but Ehlana really should get Ethan to write about at least some of that now and then – especially when they have stories to tell about their classmates.  It isn’t a shock to report that there are relationships-related problems in paradise ahead of a big school trip when a few of the teens think that being single for those adventures is a good idea – or hooking up in time for the trip would offer a different kind of opportunity.  I volunteered to be Ethan’s personal chaperone, but that offer was rejected.  No, I am not worried about Ethan being there without me – my future sister-in-laws will be there to protect him or keep the flocks of girls away from him if needed! ;^)

Moving along, we had band practice after school; Ethan came home with me after that while Ehlana went home with Aiden; and we’ve all had fun.  Our dinner was pasta and sides; and the Drapers ate all of the daily leftovers from the Bakery!  Yes, I made that up, but wouldn’t it be fun and funny if true?  Ehlana and Aiden actually cooked their dinner and went with mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon, a breaded chicken and rice dish.  I’ll resist the urge to mess with Aiden’s reputation by commenting on that tomorrow – and not just because my bakery leftovers story is better!  It is not a twin thing, but could be when it comes to what Ethan and Ehlana do when they aren’t together.  In this case, I’m referring to finding out that Ehlana and Aiden had some music play time while Ethan and I were doing the same here.  There was even one song that we each played and worked on as duets, but that was the extent of the similarities; and their music fun ended earlier than ours when Aiden’s father needed to go and get some sleep.  There were movies being watched at both homes, but not the same shows because the girls chose at the Drapers with Aiden outnumbered while we went with a Star Trek movie that most of us hadn’t seen.  I do like space and alien movies, but the cuddle time with Ethan was the best part of that show for me.

That brings us up to now.  Ethan and I are winding down toward our co-ed sofa sleepover; Ehlana and Aiden are doing the same; and we’ll be wrapping up this vid-chat and update soon so that we can get to the napping part of our night.  If there is any news from today that Ethan and Ehlana really want to write about for posterity, they can do that tomorrow night, and if Ethan has a problem with that; I’ll convince him that he’s wrong about that starting right now! ;^)

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
