Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - August 3, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 14th Birthday, Samantha Norton!

This late-morning update is coming at you now because we’re getting ready to head over to Samantha’s home for the rest of the day and her birthday adventures!  We’re getting yet another awesome, hot weather day; and we expect to have an amazing day out on the Norton farms!

As for our news since the last report, we did a fair bit of work before and after the barbeque dinner at our house and also managed to enjoy the meal too even when we were also busy with some dinnertime kid control.  We eventually headed to the park for the co-ed ball game where ‘our’ Lab Lynx lost to Landry’s Leopards despite having some quality cheer squad and spectator support.  Cassie is going to be teased about not being around to help with the cheering, but then Rowen is away too; and would have been competing against Cassie while supporting the Landrys’-sponsored team that also includes members of their family.  I helped out with some of the cheering, but also joined most of the teens in our group with keeping the younger and youngest kids entertained at the playground and elsewhere around the park.

After the game, while many of our favorite adults went to the pub for a couple of hours or longer, we brought our gang of kids and teens home with us; started a campfire; and enjoyed the usual music, stories, and toasted snacks with some grandparent support to start and some wrap-up help when Mom and Dad got home and ordered the end to the campfire.  We had some of the kids in tents and sleeping by then, and while some of us were up until the wee hours of this morning; we all had fun and didn’t have any drama at all – a fact that we will again thank the Spencers for while they were keeping Drew and his camping and party gang busy and away from us.  I’ll also report that Brianna, Faith, Leah, Hailey and some of the other girls appreciated that reality even more than we did; and we’ve apparently missed out on some of their drama issues among their own groups of friends; since they do have their own lives that we aren’t involved with at all and don’t always get to keep up with some of the details.  Thanks to the youngest kids that we did keep for the night, there were no co-ed tents, but by the time we crashed and napped; we really were okay with getting the sleep – even without our favorite cuddle buddies.

Moving along, Tai Chi by the river was more-fun with the extra exercise buddies; breakfast was an adventure with getting everyone fed and then moving on to the park or elsewhere as the ball games began and we got busy with cheer support and some chores at home – including getting our campground packed up.  Ethan and I also needed to get tents ready to take out to the Nortons’ farm and pack our overnight and play day bags, and have most of our gear in the minivan and ready to go.  Faith and her team earned another win in a close battle and by only one run; and we’ve just heard that Zack, Eli, Sebastian, Caleb, and their Med Center Mavericks managed a convincing and fairly-easy win in their battle that they coasted to through the final three innings while still having a five-run lead at the end of the game.  We did have most of our chores done earlier in the week, but the work that needed to get done was fit in this morning too; and now we’re pretty much ready to move on and have fun with our friends for the rest of the day while helping Samantha to have what we hope will be another best-ever birthday for her.

We’ll have all of those stories for you tomorrow, and need to get going now for a quick lunch before we head out to her family farms; so that’s all for today.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
