Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - August 25, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’re winding down toward nap time now and don’t have overnight guests because our friends are with their own families and we definitely haven’t been sharing them as much as we should! ;^)

Since our last update, Ethan and I helped our teams to wins that have our teams at the top of our divisions as we head into the championship games next weekend.  After the successful afternoon for our ball games, we moved on to the major barbeque dinner that the Carringtons and Everetts hosted in their back yards.  Ethan and I helped with kid control and some of the dinnertime work and clean-up, but we also had fun with the back yard games and some swimming; the campfire that included our help with the music; and then the camping that we eventually got around to with a gang of cousins and friends.  There weren’t any co-ed tents last night because we had junior tent buddies, but the teens stayed up late; so there were still co-ed cuddle opportunities and we manage to survive the occasional night without our favorite cuddle buddies!

Moving along, we had a busy start to our day with Tai Chi by the river and a major post-camping breakfast while also getting ready for church and packing up quite a bit of the campground tents and gear.  The church service was on the short side due to the heat today; and Sunday school didn’t happen for that reason.  We finished the camp clean-up after being set free from the church by Pastor John; Ethan and I were on our own with Mom and Dad for lunch; and then we were kept busy all afternoon with some chores; helping outgoing guests from homes or cottages; and in my case, helping Naomi with a last round of prep work for her cheer squad tryouts that start tomorrow.  Ethan and I also met up with Mom and Dad at Cassie and Michael’s house for one last round of getting their place ready for their return – including returning Mandy; Naomi and Aiden caught up with us in time to welcome them back and help with getting their car unloaded; and then we all headed to the Inn for the late buffet once it was time to do that and meet up with a gang of family and friends.

As is often the case, the teens in our group took care of the younger kids during that meal and we needed to share Cassie and Michael with everyone; so we only had some cameo moments with them while at the Inn.  We also didn’t get to see them much after dinner because they were busy with Jake, Rebecca, and their families; and that’s partially-why we went home with Mom and Dad and worked in the office instead of hanging out with them.  Thanks to their trip, we have lots of work that can be done and will keep us busy for a while; we also did a Magi lesson with Mom; and kept up with other, ongoing projects for our charities or family businesses.  Mom sent Ethan and I upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time at ten-thirty and could only do that thanks to lots of time-phased work.  Now that we’re cleaned up and ready for bed; it has been a challenge to keep up with our usual bedtime computer checks because we’re actually running out of steam now.

Before we crash and nap; let’s offer a minor world news update.  To keep it short, all of the worst stories from around the world haven’t gotten better; some are worse; and our political leaders continue to be more-interested in offering pointless theatre and distractions than with solving problems or ending wars.  Yes, there are some leaders out there at least pretending to want to focus on ‘real’ issues, but that rarely seems to transition into any actions that make a difference from the status quo.  We’re not really interested in any detailed commentary tonight, but for the record, while we kept up with the political news from last week that was highlighted by the Democratic Party convention and selection of their presidential and vice-presidential candidates that happened without a ‘real’ vote for either of them; we know that the show they put on was just another facet of the overall political theatre that means nothing and is really just a massive waste of money and time that could be better-spent on just about anything else.

Let’s stop there, since we really don’t want to head off to sleep thinking about any of that nonsense!  Ethan can dream of Naomi and her soon-to-be realized goal to join our football cheer squad; and maybe I’ll dream of Aiden and a future that includes a lifetime supply of free bakery treats!

It’s just a nice bonus that my boyfriend is cute and sure to be hot when he grows up! ;^)

On that note; we are out of here and off to dreamland.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
