Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 31, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

The last day of May should likely get a more-serious update, but the weather is great; we’re busy; and will be having a camping night with friends and cousins after our studying, dinner, more studying, and a campfire; so we’re doing the report now instead of later and don’t have much time for it before our friends will begin arriving for the first round of studying.  Tai Chi was by the river this morning; we had a hot breakfast; and then got to work on our chores.  That was after the fun we had last night with family and friends that included biking the trails; a barbeque dinner; and an evening study session that rolled on until around eleven o’clock.  Naomi, Aiden, Sophia, and Aaron stayed for the co-ed sleepover; and Ehlana and I worked with Naomi and Aiden today at multiple homes and cottages for our chores.

That work is done now; we both hopped in the river to cool down and then grab showers to get clean after all of the yard work and setting up our tents; and now our friends are gathering already for the studying.  Mom and Dad are going to host another family-and-friends’ barbeque dinner; we’re planning on a campfire at dusk; and we’ll likely stay up too late again tonight.  It has warmed into the high-eighties this afternoon and will still stay in the sixties overnight; so we’re expecting to have a blast for the rest of the day.

We can write about that tomorrow night; so let’s wrap this up with a quick news update and then we need to get with our friends and start the next round of exams studying.  There continues to be peace talk with no action on all fronts including Ukraine and the Middle East.  Ehlana and I will wait to see real changes on the ground before we’ll trust any of the talk; and nobody should trust any of the supposed efforts at diplomacy.  The tariff and trade wars are heating up again – or cooling down – depending on who you listen to on the stories of the hour; and there are far too many leaders in the world interested in completely destroying global trade.  China seems to be the primary target for tariffs and other trade restrictions, and we understand the issues on both sides of the very real trade problems, but the ‘solutions’ being implemented and proposed will do damage to everyone and risk escalations to military conflicts.

Ehlana and I will not get into the political theatre distractions of the hour that are never-ending and meaningless efforts to keep the masses entertained so that they don’t get mad and rise up against all of the stupidity and the horrors being inflicted on fellow humans elsewhere in the world.  We really do need to go now; so that’s all for today – and for May.  We’ll be back again next month, so stay tuned for that; and we’ll do our best to have an amazing rest of the day that we can write about tomorrow night!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 30, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 5th Anniversary, Rebecca and Lucas Norton!

We won’t be partying with the happy couple, but Cassie and Michael will be busy helping with the party work and then taking care of kids overnight.  Ehlana and I are only doing a quick update before we head out for some biking with our friends; and we’re going to enjoy the sun and warm weather before getting back to studying again after dinner.  We’ll have a gang of friends over for that too; and then we’ll keep our four best friends for the night after that; so we’ll be busy for the rest of the day.

The rest of our story can wait for our next update, and that’s true for world and political news; so that’s all we have for this report.  We really need to get going and meet up with our friends now; so we’re out of here and back to the adventures that we’ll write about tomorrow night! ;^)

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 29, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

It was rainy this morning, so our day started with indoor Tai Chi and breakfast with Mom and Dad; and then our academic adventures were all about getting ready for exams.  Ehlana and I hosted a study session after school that included some of Naomi’s classmates so that she could be with us too; and then we only had Naomi and Aiden with us for dinner with Mom and Dad before we all went to the Inn for game night.  There weren’t many teens at the Inn, so Naomi and I won the junior title; and then Ehlana and I walked our best friends home – after collecting Silkie along the way so she could get a bedtime walk too.

That’s pretty much all of our news for today because Mom wanted us to have an early night and didn’t want us to work or even do a Magi lesson.  We’ll skip most of the world news of the day too – except for one good-bad news story out of Switzerland.  The bad news is that a small town was destroyed by a landslide-avalanche that buried a valley and has blocked a river that could lead to more trouble in the coming weeks both up and down-river.  Several hundred feet of the side of a mountain broke away and landed on a glacier, but then the entire thing came down on the town and river – to the tune of a length of more than a mile; a width of two or three hundred yards; and a height in some places of over one-hundred feet.  Yes, that all is as bad as it sounds, but the good news is that the local government evacuated the town when the first landslide was temporarily stopped by the glacier; they wouldn’t let the residents return even to gather up personal property; and that decision saved a lot of lives when everything did collapse into the valley within minutes when the glacier couldn’t hold the extra weight anymore.  Maybe that doesn’t sound like a big deal, but those leaders stood up to the public pressure – and were proved right and possibly saved hundreds of lives!

While we wrap this up and get off to sleep soon; let’s hope that our world leaders will take note of that little story and learn some lessons that they really need to start caring more about the people they are supposed to be caring about more than their own interests in power and wealth!  No, that won’t likely happen, but let’s take this small bit of good news; give credit where due; and call it a night!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 28, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

We’ve had a good day, but not much news to report.  Our academic adventures were all about prepping for exams; Ehlana and I studied with friends after school until dinnertime; and then we play-worked at the lab after having that meal with Mom and Dad.  Time phasing was sued to get more done while still getting home by ten-thirty; and now we’re tired and pretty much ready to call it a night and get some sleep.

It will not be a surprise to future readers that there were no miracles today in world or political news – the collective stupidity rolls on; and nothing changes for the better when it comes to the most-serious issues.  The rhetoric is getting uglier, and that doesn’t bode well for the near-future either, but we can’t do anything about those problems other than helping where we can with the family business efforts to help as many people as possible; so just insert the rant here; and we’ll let you imagine that for yourselves! ;^)

We really are ready to get some nap time now; so that’s all for this report.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 27, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 8th Anniversary, Violet and Dillon!

Happy 24th Birthday, Reid Spencer!

We’ve had a good day but it has been long too; so let’s get to the news!

Tai Chi was by the river, but we had some showers this morning too before the wet weather moved on for the rest of the day.  We prepped for exams in our classes; had band practice after school; and then Ehlana and I had Naomi and Aiden with us for Violet and Dillon’s anniversary dinner that his parents hosted.  We basically needed to eat and run to get to our ball practices on time; and then we were busy with that until near-dusk before heading for our homes for the night.  Ehlana and I took Silkie out for a walk while seeing Naomi and Aiden to their homes and then we did some time-phased work and a Magi lesson in the office before coming upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time.  Even with the music and sports fun, we managed to get a lot done; so we’re feeling pretty good about our accomplishments tonight.

It would be nice if that could be true for world and political news, but that isn’t the case.  Our leaders continue to talk a lot and do nothing while the death and destruction rolls on endlessly.  Let’s not mess up a good day by getting into any rants on any of those issues and simply note that there haven’t been any changes for the good today.  As always, we’ll hope for better for the rest of the world tomorrow, and with that thought in mind; we’re going to call it a night and get some sleep.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
