Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 6, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

According to most of the kids and teens in town, the top story of the day is the start of the fall festival set-up.  We didn’t have time to check out the action at the park, but have gotten first reports from cousins and friends – even though there isn’t that much to report so far.

Our day began with Tai Chi by the river and a hot breakfast with Cassie and Michael.  We had a good day at school, and then Ehlana stayed dry and indoors for her cheer squad practice while I got a bit damp during the football practice.  We didn’t get a lot of rain, but it was enough to get wet and dirty as the field got slick too.  We really need to practice more in bad weather – even though we’d love to get through the entire season with warm and dry conditions for every game!  That won’t happen; so I’m glad that we are learning to handle tougher conditions – even when that means some slips, falls, and more than a few dropped footballs.

Ehlana and I brought our four best friends home with us after our practices – to Cassie and Michael’s home; and the main change to our normal Monday evenings was that Cassie led our group Magi lesson.  Along with a great pasta and sides dinner, we got our studying done; our band practice took a while because Naomi and the Haunted Harmonies are playing a set this weekend at the Saturday night dance at the festival; and then Ehlana and I did some family business and charity work with Cassie and Michael after our friends headed for their homes.  Aiden liked having the shortest walk next door to his house – and I should have mentioned that he joined us for the Tai Chi part of our morning but not the breakfast.

Cassie and Michael have headed for bed and we’re just wrapping up our day with the usual twin chat and computer checks; and then we’ll head off to bed too.  As always, even with our abilities it takes time to sift through the world news nonsense, and we’re going to cover some smaller stories tonight.  First up, the Prime Minister of France has stepped down after less than a month in the job – apparently because he’s already fed up with their messed-up federal politics.  There are a lot of politicians in the world that should pay attention to stories like this one; since a large part of the problem is that those leaders are clueless to how angry their populations are getting over policies that hurt the masses to enrich the few that don’t need more power and money in the first place.  That’s a truth that is becoming clear elsewhere, but that fight won’t be won easily; and we don’t expect miracles anytime soon.  The peace talk continues for Israel and the Palestinians, but instead of writing about that tonight; we’re going to mention the Israeli treatment of the hundreds of activists they detained after blocking their aid flotilla from delivering aid to Gaza.  We didn’t expect any unapproved aid to be allowed into Gaza, but we can’t help but comment on the media war surrounding this story.  Israeli leaders and military insist that they did nothing wrong while the activists are claiming serious mistreatment that journalists covering the flotilla appear to confirm.  We’ll chose to doubt the politicians and military leaders from Israel; since they do have a well-documented history of lying about pretty much everything.  Beating activists is far from the worst the Israeli military and navy does on a daily basis to the Palestinians, and while we support a ceasefire in Gaza; we don’t actually expect that Israeli leaders will change anything for their ultimate plan to genocide the Palestinians and create their vision of a Greater Israel.

Let’s stop there.  We have had a good day, but it is late; and we need to get some sleep while we can – so we are going to get started on that right now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
