Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 25th Birthday, Sally Parker!
We offered best wishes and were on the sidelines for Sally’s birthday dinner at the Inn because Cassie and Michael were there for their friend, but the rest of our day was fairly-quiet and not that kind of fun. Sally might feel the same way tonight, since she is in her first trimester of her first pregnancy, but she seemed well-enough at dinner; and hasn’t had too many issues with morning sickness so far.
We have had a good day – if not newsworthy. Tai Chi by the river and breakfast was an adventure with all of the extra exercise buddies; we all managed to get to church on time; and the service and Sunday school were good. Ehlana and I had lunch with Cassie and Michael, but while we had a tough choice between a hot, sunny play afternoon and a work-play session at the lab or archives; we picked the work and got a lot done thanks to some quality time phasing. Cassie and Michael spent the afternoon with their nieces and nephews and a few next-gen cousins while we were busy, but we were all ready to enjoy the late buffet dinner at the Inn that definitely was the culinary highlight of our day. Naomi and Aiden were with us for that meal and it was a semi-date; since we weren’t actually guests for Sally’s dinner party.
Ehlana and I came home with Cassie and Michael without any extra overnight guests. We did a bit of family business work followed by a Magi lesson and then it was bath or Jacuzzi time. We’ve had a bedtime chat and snack since then; and now Ehlana and I are winding down toward nap time. We’re not going to do a major news update tonight, but do want to mention one story from the weekend that happened in Japan. The ruling party in Japan elected a new leader and that is sending shockwaves through the country because she is the first female leader of a major, national political party in Japan and will soon also be confirmed as the next Prime Minister and first woman to lead the country. Yes, that is historic, but to be honest; we don’t like the way that has happened; since she won’t be getting that job by actually winning a general election. Yes, she won the party election, but that was done by a few hundred delegates. We’ll all wait to see whether she will still be the leader after the next federal election in Japan; since that really will be the only way to find out whether she can lead the country with the support of the people – or not. This also feels very similar to the calls last year to have President Biden step down and ‘make’ Kamala Harris the first female President in our country; and we felt the same way about that as we do about this story. It certainly seems as though more and more countries that are supposed to be democracies are attempting to game the system to install leaders to continue the status quo or do even more for the already-rich and powerful; and we really hope that will be a trend that will end sooner instead of later.
That’s already more of a rant than we wanted for today, so that’s all for this report. Stay tuned; since the fall festival is up next; and we are definitely going to have an amazing week!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
