Ethan and Ehlana:
Cassie and Michael are safely in Chicago for the week with Stefan, Madelana, and their families; and we hope they’ll have an awesome week leading up to the big wedding!
Here at home, our day has been quieter, but we’ve had fun too; and spent most of the day until now on a canoeing adventure to the whirlpool with a gang of cousins and friends. Ehlana and I don’t need to do as much to take care of our younger cousins and their friends beyond keeping them safe and making sure that they all had enough food and liquids while playing and swimming; and we really loved the time with our own best friends. We headed upriver by mid-morning after Tai Chi by the river, breakfast, and setting up the tents we’ll need tonight. The paddle to the whirlpool went fairly-quickly thanks to a couple of races initiated by Brianna and Zack; and I am sorry to report that Zack and Eli still haven’t figured out that they shouldn’t challenge the girls to that kind of race – unless they make sure that Brianna has the heaviest canoe in the flotilla – which she did not have today! Brianna and Faith might look like pixies, but they are talented athletes; and the races were not really all that close for the actual competitors. Naomi and I did not compete and neither did Ehlana and Aiden, but we did paddle harder to stay in sight of our cousins; and know for sure that Brianna and Faith won both races by multiple canoe lengths.
We spent a couple of hours at the whirlpool; had our picnic lunch stop at our usual, favorite spot – though it was a bit crowded for the entire gang we had today; and then we paddled home again and had to put the extra canoes and all of our gear away before splitting up to get overnight bags packed and ready for our camping night. Ehlana and I are dealing with that now – along with rounding up the tech gear for the outdoor movies we have planned for after dark. Mom has lots of help with the barbeque dinner plans with pot-luck donations from the parents of the campers, and since we didn’t mention it yet; that’s partly because Dad is in the city this week. Maybe we should have set up the camping elsewhere instead of leaving Mom in charge of us, but she’s happy to have us while Dad’s away anyway; and the other parents appreciate the kid-free opportunities!
That definitely isn’t something we want to write about, but then we need to get back to our friends and cousins; since they are already arriving with their overnight gear. The rest of our adventure stories can wait for tomorrow, so stay tuned for that; and we’ll get out there and enjoy all of the fun!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
